Forgive me, brethren and sister of the Zwifthood, for I have committed a heinous sin.

I have downloaded IndieVelo and been for a little rest ride.

What’s more, I rather like it.

What's it like?

Anyone else having a bash at zwift academy? The workouts are now available and I am doing them out of order or rather in an order that makes more training sense to me. So W/O 5 steady state long today. I pushed too hard on the 30min free ride at 242w average which may drag me into B. But I needed it after a frustrating ITT last night interrupted by an early Uber Eats delivery 😀

Can we drag you into the Splitters (B) team then? We need every pair of legs possible ;)

Ta for asking. I will tap you for advice:okay:

Not too bad. At my age I am having to focus a bit on overall conditioning which gets in the way of being on the bike. But i know after the Raid Pyrennees this year, that survival on long days on a bike, especially with 3000m or more of climbing is for me as much about the rest of the body as the legs and lungs. But i cannot say i enjoy the rowing as much as being on the bike.

Did you follow a specific plan? A mate who struggled to beat the time cut off last year has bought a plan that seeks to replicate different parts of the ride. For example this week he rode the first 2 hours to the top of Puig Major.

Bob, I know several people who have done the 312.

Quite a few of my club mates have attempted it. Some very fit and easily capable of completing but failed, others less so fit but did.

Completing the sportive has a few external factors that can scupper the fittest of riders. Mainly your start time and the chaos at the first couple of feed stations.

If you can an early slot ( not sure if this is random) possibly allows quick access to replenish your supplies or have enough food/fluid to miss the first feed station. Once past those without issues, then most seem to get through the cut off .

All the best 👍

Sorry, I missed your post! We have a B team and a D team. What Cat are you currently?
hi all is there a team to join on Zwift hope to join on next Tuesdays race

Do you have a Zwiftpower.com account?

If not create one. In the team section put Cyclechat.

Then list on here your usernames, if you have used different names for Zwift power and your Zwift account. Easier if they're the same.

Pete will add you to the private chat if you want to race for the B squad.

We can gently rib you about your ability 👍

Yeah, there's a long way to go. Like you say, beating the cut off and finishing doesn't always reflect relative fitness.
We have a hotel right by the start for an early and quick get away. I wake at 5 am normally anyway so it wont be the shock it is for some. I also have my own room which is essential for early to bed untroubled kip! Fueling strategy hones on the RP and so i shouldn't need either of the first two food stops-just need to wade through. Really excited for it.

Essential you’re hotel is near the start as was mine last year so good job with that one.
External factors that was out of my control :
Delayed start time (20 mins) for everybody but the cut off time stays the same.
The official start time for the event is your start time even if you go off 30 mins later depending on how early you get there to the holding gate.
First water station was manic (very hot weather) and even if you didn’t stop there was still a hold up as people couldn’t park their bike the road was impassable for a few mins.
They blamed this on people riding that haven’t officially entered so this year it’s obligatory to wear the 312 jersey given you you for the ride.
You can pay extra money (stupid money) to go off first which improves your odds to beat the cut time.
Feed stations very busy and the fastest times had support teams for water & food.
Andy Owen ( from Taunton) did it successfully a few years back he was one of the guys on your Pyrenees tour who was watching when I did it.
I did follow a plan but it was useless by a guy who rides it every year “ ride harder”.
The good part of the ride uphill is on ROUVY and I can find it for you if you want to try it.
You need to train by doing very long endurance rides and lots of rides with long climbs and the better your ftp the better you can keep to a high zone 2 power output.
There you go, easy peasy 😂
