I've come to the conclusion that the sawtoothing is either my trainer, hysteresis of trying to maintain position in a group or the fact that I was right on the limit. Or some combination of all three. It does happen regularly though when I race and also in Pace Partner groups.

I think the fact that the cadence doesn't ever go below 60 would likely mitigate it (it's not sprint and coast), but to be honest I'm not that likely to do FRR anyway at the moment. (Not very big on mass start events or enforced bike choices).

I think 'sawtoothing' is a result of trying to stay in a group on Zwift. It's hard not to do it to a certain extent - we push a bit to stay towards the front of the groups, then coast a bit as we don't want to shoot off the front. And with the constant gradient changes it's difficult to hold a constant cadence (at least that's my experience).
Real sawtoothing is the very high and very low (zero) cadence that some trainers allow. I don't see anything wrong with your graph.

I think this is exactly correct. I submit the following as supporting evidence…

Yeah there's micro bursting and sticky watts whcih are similar but different.... i've stopped trying to understand the exact difference. You don't have to drop cadence to zero to have sticky watts but that graph clearly looks fairly normal to me given you were in a pack. Its always more obvious on a climb as you see people's numbers go orange and to zero and they clearly aren't drafting anyone.

I've only ridden Zwift a few times since the new pack dynamics came into effect, but, in either races, rides, or pacer activities, I've never had my power go anything like that. What trainer do you use, @alex_cycles ?

Elite Direto II. I think it's hysteresis due to the delay in either power decay or response time when applying an effort.
It does look a bit odd, but it's not unheard of.

I was once accused of sawtoothing for advantage…on a NEO. As Carl says so succinctly, it can be a product of simply trying to stay with aand then grab some rest within a group, perhaps exacerbated by the additional effort required to turn a heavier flywheel/equivalent from low cadence or coasting.

Yeah it's a bit of a non-issue really. All power meters have smoothing. If you had to look at the raw output it would blow your head off.
The important thing is the average power every once in a while, which is probably about 2Hz on this one. I think the new spec is 10Hz though which gives a quicker response time. What makes this one interesting is that the "hysteresis cycle" is about 4-5s. It goes away completely if I turn off the graph, then people don't leave stupid comments on my YT vids

First ride on the Tron and I didn't win 😕 apparently you still have to put the effort in ,
Ticked off another route badge as a warm up then the zwift hill climb club on NY kom reverse , unsure about the rider not sitting up when in the draft .
Hill climb race did my usual tactic of pootling to the climb then smash it , A short 1.4km climb doesn't really suit me but managed 4th on the road ,3rd on zwift power , strangely neither ride has uploaded to Strava an hour later or the route ticked off on zwift

If it's not on Strava it didn't happen
But we know it did because it's on ZP.

I did that one too this morning. Only took 1s off my PR , but a PR's a PR.

First technical issues in a while then they hit in 3s. HRM didn't pair today and yesterday the hdmi connection between TV and apple TV box just gave out a couple of times for minute each. Then the neobike lost cadence after I freewheeled for about 10 seconds. Least they were just random races of no consequence but it does effect your motivation
