The pic shows how much more efficient you were. To be fair, I wasn't trying much to be economical as I felt fairly comfortable throughout the race - just not enough final grunt. Your pic doesn't show the final ZP figs (always takes hours). Your NP was 309W and mine was 275W - which shows how your sprint skews things :okay:

It seems the 1 min repeat training sessions my coach has given me are working - I did my best ever 30 seconds (in a Zwift Race) in that race.

Just need to get a 1,000W sprint and I'll be sorted ^_^
1000W for how long?

15 secs ideally.

My max power ever was 1,063W peak and max 5 sec ever was 1,005W. These would have been outside though.

Max 15 sec outside was 895Wand on Zwift was 777W.

All these bests were in 2021.

Not done any sprint specific training yet this year - I'm guessing they are coming soon

Would love to hear how your coach incorporates sprint training, especially if there's weights involved. I've gone back to squatting a few weeks ago but decided I won't be changing anything else - I will still do my racing as before, still do sportives and longer rides. Have to say it's tricky, but gets easier as you carry on.

Unfortunately , your weight is against you Martin. I know its a good bragging number -1000W, but you seem to be able to hold a decent power figure for your size- its down to W/kg, if you can get above 10W/kg and hold it, then you're motoring.

I watched your sprint yesterday, you went very early held on well. I don't know if holding back just a few more seconds and drafting would have got a better result-hey 8th is bloody good :okay:

My (indoor) 15s PB is 963W - at 67 or 67.5kg, can't remember exactly. Martin is over 70kg, and a proper racer. It's ambitious, but not unachievable.

That's mighty impressive Pete. Didn't realise that had that much top end. Slight difference is you're a fair bit younger. No disrespect to Martin, if anyone can Martin can with his dedication to improvement

Cheers. Yep the plan was to try and smash a 30-40 second sprint as I knew I would get murdered in a 15 sec sprint, especially as it flattens out. I saw some of them had feathers which would have been (I think) better than the drafting van I had.

I may have another go in the morning - and then go outside afterwards.

It's a tricky finish. I went much later than the 1-2, although they were very explosive.

Another horrendous (weather) day in the giro but fun stage

Put the following in the wrong Thread...

Had another bash at Crit Club Stage 3, did the 13:10 one. There were less riders than Friday (33 rather than 54) and the "Race Quality" was lower.

My plan was to ride more efficiently, hold on to the Feather when I got it and go at the base of the final climb.

The tactics worked with the small mod that I went as planned but only at 80% and kicked flat out a few seconds later.

This seemed to work and I scored my first Gold Medal in a while. Off outside later for some Z2 in the sun to complete my "easier" week.

Hi Martin, I'd like to have a go at racing, however considering how much skin and subsequent recovery time Shaun (fellow oldie @ Dambuster's) left on Lincolnshire's roads, Nah.

I'll leave it to the crazies, hardcore racers :okay:

Zwift subscription for the summer
