I won a race on Glasgow Crit this morning with a tactic I didn't think would work.
Bit annoyed not to get a feather (10xp) for the final Clyde Kicker. Then AT the Clyde Kicker banner I got one, when aero was what I wanted for the finish.

So I decided to deploy the feather and smash up that final hump about 700m from the end and just keep going full bore for a long effort to kill the sprinters.
I made it stick, too  Doubt it would have worked against top C sprinters, but they weren't there.

Giant Liv Avail - it has 12 speed Di2 and is tubeless, two technologies I have religiously avoided on my own bikes. Looks like I'll be learning about them now ^_^

The bike looks stunning in the flesh - sort of an iridescent black.

Completed my endurance training before hopefully taking part in Dambusters Sportive.

I entered Vikings ride around the Four Horsemen. Anticipating something around 4hr30, an ideal training session. The fast riders held in check by the red fence.

Up the Epic and radio was fine, onto the Alpe where I wanted to test my legs with already nearly two hours riding. Felt good cresting the Alpe and coasted down the descent.

Onto the Jungle climbs, where all of sudden my legs just went to jelly with only 10 miles to finish. It was the slowest painful experience of recent memory. Eventually an overtaking rider message me to get on his wheel as we left the jungle complex-- a most welcome gesture. It diverted my attention just enough to up my effort whilst zoning on his rear wheel. He towed me to the finish. Absolutely shattered :B)

It certainly was, praying for the last 10 miles to tick by. I will now rest for a few days and begin to taper. Should see some benefits in 5-10 days.

Well done Andy. I did my first club ride of the year. 50 miles with 750m ascent. I chose the C-ride as I wanted a Zone 2. We went for a beer afterwards as a farewell to our ride secretary who's moving abroad. That ended up being more than one  and less than six

DRS again on Tuesday morning so light duty tomorrow.

Been off the bike a few days, might try a longish ride tomorrow on trainer, at 100%, with some climbing. See how the legs get on.

Whilst looking at the Intervals ICU, I came across the compare tab. Very interesting the way it compares periods of fitness with power to HR.

My recent block of endurance riding has resulted in quite a jump in fitness. I've seen an increase at my Z2 pace which is 200W. I've had an increase of 70W  . Or another way to assess, I can do 200W for much lower HR.

Im not sure the 70W is totally accurate, given the period of assessment was mostly racing compared to a block of endurance. But my off the cuff observations, I'm see around 10bpm lower for same power.

Interesting. Never played with that before. I'm up 15 Watts across the board up to FTP for 31 Jan-1 May 2023 vs 2022. It gets messy above FTP. Interestingly though, at this time last year my Chronic Training Load was 15 points higher than now (probably because I started doing more volume outdoor earlier due to better weather). Looking at it the other way ~3 BPM lower for any given power.

I've been doing lower volume, higher intensity this winter. Looks like it's done something
