This is my fitness/form/fatigue graph. Going in the right direction just in time for sportive

Looking nice, Andy. I'm sure the dam busters sportive will be a blast ;)

I definitely eased off after the FRR series - back in the mid-seventies for my CTL now and feeling really fresh. Not really looking to gain any fitness over the summer, just minimise the losses.

Definitely the right direction.
One thing I've really noticed is that riding outside seems a lot easier to rack up some decent training stress. Probably it's mostly a duration thing driven by finding indoor a bit boring after an hour or so (unless racing).

57 yesterday. Reached 82 last June riding a lot outside and lots of hills. But it's all relative to your FTP, which can and does change. (But we all hate FTP tests so we never really know ). All that really matters is that you feel like you're improving and/or enjoying it.

How are you getting on with your Assiomas Peter?

My CTL has fallen from 40, when I was in really good form just before my cold, to 32 now. I’ve still got a sprint, but my super-threshold and VO2 endurance has just gone out of the window… I set a five-minute block of 400W at the tail end of a workout on Saturday, so that I could see how long I could hold it in erg mode. Just over three minutes, was the answer - I hadn’t been expecting to last the five, but it was very dispiriting to feel my legs buckling.

They're working

It's useful to have a power number when riding outdoor - especially to stop you from going too hard. I'll be doing my first ton with power this weekend so we'll see if that helps with managing effort, I hope so.

In hindsight, I don't think I need the level of accuracy they provide, but it's nice to know they're precise. I'm not seeing any meaningful difference between indoor and outdoor numbers.

As I'm getting a new bike, I got another power meter - to minimise swapping the pedals all the time. It's a budget spider one and I plan to do a few rides with it and the Assiomas fitted at the same time, to see if there are any differences.

VO2 goes quicky, but it also can come back much quicker than Endurance/Tempo.

In the plus side, I did The Gorby today. Had to take down the intensity by 5W on each successive interval, and my legs gave up on me midway through the last effort, but I pretty much saw it through. My FTP will have dropped a bit but I hadn’t/haven’t reduced it in Zwift.

On the negative side, I’ve found out how to make Chelsea buns, so my weight is probably going to be on the up unless I can rein in my gluttony…

Recovered now, 6 hours of training left. I will be doing only 1 hour rides either solo or group socials. Trying to keep away from folk with illness's

Randomly saw this in YouTube of all places, well done @Peter Salt
Cheers :becool: I'll try and do the May series as well; I'm signed up for 18:10 today.

These races are shorter than what I prefer (only around 0.5h), but they do work really nice when combined with gym right after (leg day). I can definitely feel the benefits on my outdoor rides - whenever I need a bit of acceleration or the road snaps up, there's enough strength to push a hard gear and not have to recover for very long.

Today's DRS. Bit of a smash-fest. No real let up. 36 minutes at 100% intensity. And I went negative on the weebles too up the Sgurr (-2.5kJ)
We tied on points with a WMZ team but I think we got it on finish points. Will have to wait and see...

I understand it's difficult for me to get an impression of how much you were breathing out of your arse, but...

What's with all those times inside the last km or two when you're dangling off the back but your power is <200W? Isn't that when you want to be giving it beans to stay in touch? You obviously had some reserves because you put in a few little 400W+ digs...

Yeah I screwed up the mic today, which is a pity.
Basically I was hanging on the whole time. 36 minutes at 100%.

I had almost nothing left, but glad I fought for those last 2 places at the end. Even though I was our 5th scoring rider, so my points didn't count, one of the guys I overtook on the final straight was from WMZ Alchemists, who we tied with on points and beat on finish points. I had no idea at the time, but if he'd finished in front of me they'd have beaten us.
