Any word on the category system getting tidied up?

The latest "Competition and AI Tech update" was 10 days ago...

Extract below... TL;DR - not got very far with it, but at least making the right noises about results and combined power

Paul will be No1 in his B team. You might ranked lower if you raced in an A category team.

I don’t get it. I didn’t race in the league last season. And my A cat results are generally poor relative to the field. My 20 minute power number is relatively high vs B cat field. I assume because I’m racing and finishing ahead of some A cat racers I get points that way. But if I was making assumptions it would suggest the system is power more than point based?

Alex maybe in your case your current recoded 20 minute power number has you in C, but the metrics used in the newer algorithms put you in B?

It looks to me like you could race in B anyway if you’re ahead of half the B team in the ranking system and it’s not just points based. And if it is just points based I don’t see how I’m ranked number 1 at the moment… 🤷‍♂️

Maybe they messed something up? At the moment it all says "recalculating"?

Did TdZ Stage 4 Standard last night. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with my broadband or with my geriatric laptop, but I was getting about 1fps and most of the time the screen was showing riderless bikes for the first 5-10 minutes. I stayed with the front group until halfway up Keith Hill, then the elastic broke and I ended up in a group around 20th-30th, picking up stragglers and trying not to be caught. We were about 12 by the time we got to the finish; I went slightly long and got third in the group in the sprint. 18th on ZwiftPower.

Jo’s away this weekend so I’ll put a film on after the kids are asleep and try to knock out a couple of hours of Z2.

A decent laptop, good internet connection, do make for a pleasant Zwift experience. I've upgraded our Broadband and network. I use a 2.5gb switch and matching access points. Zwift runs much nicer

It's far more complicated than that, I think. All events in the last 120 days count - not just ZRL.

In your specific case, this would include events such as the FRR stages where you've technically beaten a lot of high-ranking A riders. What the algorithm wouldn't take into account is that you picked a few stages while the riders you scalped did several in a row.

Sorry maybe I didn’t explain myself properly. I said in my previous post that I get that I’ll be getting good points just by definition of racing in A cat races. I was hoping someone might of known the specifics of how the points are split between power numbers and finishing positions.

Anyone know how the points are allocated? Ie does it say after a race how many races you’ve accumulated. In the example you mentioned Pete. I just looked and I’ve done two FRR races. If they’re taking results over a third of a year, how much of an impact does two races make? Is there a way of breaking it down?

They haven't given out the methodology - just some of the elements they include.
