The real change in Bkool is that almost nobody uses the bkool trainers and the new SIM uses the power readings. I don't notice any real difference in Rouvy or Zwift or BigringVR.
There are a lot fewer riders and the Cycle chat races have mostly people from the league. We don't lock them anymore so anyone can join the race. And even though our standards are high to join the league, a small bribe might get you accepted.

Hello! New to this thread and new to zwift. Santa bought me a trainer 😁 I’m really enjoying it so far.

Question about distances. I’m always surprised at the distance zwift says I’ve travelled. I definitely feel like I work harder on Zwift than I do outside, I push harder. But the Zwift mileage looks very generous. Any thoughts?

Welcome! I think Zwift miles are harder than IRL miles too! :okay:

But then you can make the counter argument and say that an hour on a turbo is, in fact, harder than an hour outside. So don't feel bad about raking up a few more miles.

Thanks for the very thoughtful answer. I shall add the miles gladly then - I def find turbo harder than outside. Outside, I'm very reluctant to cycle for 'fitness', I want cycling to remain all about joy. Inside, I'm more than happy to work hard. It's really strange.

That is what we all find.

Just wait till you get hooked on racing, then Zwift addiction really kicks in :okay:

Welcome to the subforum and welcome to Zwift, @Cathryn !
I find that I travel probably 1-1.5 mph faster in Zwift than I would for the same effort outside.
I haven't ridden outdoors with company for ages, but I always found that time seemed to pass really quickly with good company. Indoors, I need a film or TV to distract me to that point, but find that I have to be careful not to lose the draft if I'm riding in a big bunch!
Workouts in Zwift seem to pass inexorably slowly!

Welcome @Cathryn .

Have you ever done a mass participant closed road event? The speed on Zwift is very similar to what you would get there - which I guess is what it is mimicking.

When comparing to everyday outside riding, I reckon Zwift has about a 10% mileage increase because of all the factors others have mentioned.

Tried a race yet?

Hi @Cathryn ,
There is a setting called trainer difficulty which on a taxc is set at 100% you can lower it ,most people set it about 30/50% and it will make it feel a bit easier
My advice is to get the companion app and look out for the "pack" group ride . They ride at a set power normally about 2w/kg and are very social if you can ride and type but these rides are well attended and you will realise that drafting makes a big difference .
As for miles compared to in and out that's basically down to you to judge . Personally I count them separately as they are different

I was bit of careless yesterday when I join D Miguel's Pace Partner group. On a descent I stop the pedaling for a moment because I was thinking let the partner catch me, I was planning to re-join the group. Well it catch me and almost vanish to horizon, I was start to pedaling about +3w/kg but I didn't catch them. I was preparing to send stay safe, don't forget to write-message. Lucky for me I catch them next climb. So better not underestimate D pace partners, especially on descent's.
