With the jump to 8 gig requirements for BKOOL I bough a cheap Mini Mac and it works great on BKOOL and BigringVR. I couldn’t use the iPad with hdmi adapter because Bigring only uses Ant+.
The tough thing is getting rid of old tech. I have 4 old PCs and laptops and 3 old iPads that I can’t bring myself to throw out. We have an Ewaste program at work where it goes to recycling. So maybe on the next round I’ll throw out the old Gateway.

Good to see you (just) beat the 11 year old :okay:

There’s no need to talk about Lee like that :headshake:

Well surely that depends on whether you play any other games? I don't, and I have no interest in doing so. Even if I did, I don't think I'd want to go out in the cold garage where my zwifting setup is to do it. I already have a laptop for anything else PC related. So for me (and others) there's literally no need to pay for spec that exceeds what's needed for a decent zwift experience.
I wasn't aware of it needing more than 8gb - that's still the official advice isn't it? And for the record it runs great on my cheap build with 8gb currently...

Just remember that not every other biking simulator game runs like Zwift. You already said you are using an old TV at low resolution and refresh rate, so that doesn’t require much. Try running at a more modern resolution like 2K or 4K at 60FPS+ and you will surely see stutter in rides with many riders. Coming from Apple TV with its 30FPS, 1080P and basic graphics, everything seems to run “great”. If recording/streaming at 2K+ I’m sure them last 8 GB comes in handy. And if using something like OBS, even more so.

You're again just talking about a load of different scenarios that don't I don't use/don't affect me so paying more for the capacity to do those things would - in your words - be foolish

Home all day tomorrow. No work, no paper work, work phone off!

The plan is to get the house guest ready for next weekend. But I’m definitely going to chisel out time for a ride. Anyone fancy a go at the alp? Group ride / friendly race? Or maybe something longer and sociable?

I think 'other gaming' is just one of the possible scenarios. Ones that would maybe hit a bit closer to home would be:
- recording your rides in high quality - bigger load on CPU, more RAM, SSD HD would be a good idea
- streaming your rides - bigger load on everything - CPU, GPU, memory
- having additional apps and/or overlays - Discord, YT, Sauce - CPU, memory
But all of this is very personal. I think that what you mentioned originally is good enough for high quality graphics with decent FPS and medium quality recording. That would be my use case as well as I already have PCs that do other stuff (gaming, work, etc.).

Just had a decent race result for a change!

10 laps of the bell circuit. That little lump seemed to come round faster and faster each lap but I managed to stay in the front pack which was relentless pace.

22 started but only 13 finished after quite a few got shelled (Not mentioning any names :hello:). The winner averages 400w. The guy in 7th average 208w. Quite a spread…

I got 6th. Put out a decent sprint (I know right!) 8/9 w/kg after averaging 310w for 25 minutes is prob the most pleasing part of the result by some margin.

Thought it was brag post worthy even without accompanying video

Well done squire 😬
No excuse really , I got dropped , worked to get back on , went too deep , felt sick and little voice inside just said - this is gonna happen again in a bit so instead of dying a death , I ran away to regroup for another day
Well done on result
Not annoyed with my output just annoyed with my lack of race skills , it might make a difference if I could race better , well , that’s what I am telling myself 😁

What time are you thinking of Tommy? I've been taking an easy week of it on the bike and missed out on a long base miles ride today as I had work to catch up on after losing yesterday to a Christmas lunch ( I mean festive lunch - longer allowed to call it Christmas at my work). So I'd be interested in a longer spin but I'll probably be aiming for 10am-ish start.

If you fancy a short but climby race, I’m in the Herd Winter League at 15:30 tomorrow. Finish at the top of Innsbruck KOM, everyone in same E cat.

Exacttly. I spend more time in front of my Zwift/BKOOL/RGTVirtuPro PC than my other “Office” PC, hence I want the best experience possible (within reason) and use a 4K TV (running at 1440P).
My setup is not quite good enough for 4K, but 1440P is good enough for a 43” AND gives you way better videoquality when uploading to YouTube. But there is room for upgrading both CPU and GPU, so one day it will be running at 4K/60FPS across all the bike games. :okay: Upgrading that soon to be 7 year old GPU or the 2 year Old CPU first is the question.

In fairness the two races I’ve done either side of that monstrosity were much more up your street. And even then if you’d of realised where the pressure point each lap was each lap you’d of had a good chance of hanging on. Oh well 😁

I’d of been interested to see if you could have held onto the front group up the New York kom the other day.

@IrishAl i think afternoon better for me mate. It’ll give me a chance to shake off the foggy head, and also earn some turbo time tokens from the missus for my hoovering the stairs skills!

That race you put up looks good Steve 👍. Anyone else fancy that?

Streaming would hit your internet or local network bandwidth as well. I found when using my multi-tablet setup for "rear-view mirror" on a second fan-view zwift account that it somehow compromised the experience - whether it was wifi router limitation or the powerline adaptor connection - I didn't much care in the middle of the race. I just swiched off the second tablet and instantly everything was OK again.

Haven't looked into it again. It wasn't important enough. But yeah if you're streaming you will need extra bandwidth on your connection. I prefer to record and publish later.
