Maybe it’s been mentioned already and I missed it. But the current ranking system on zwift power seems very odd to me. It kind of falls in line with zwift mentality of give everyone a medal for turning up.
Speaking of which. I just got an email from Zwift congratulating me for doing 500k in December. What's that all about?

It's more like "find what sort of races you can score well at and do lots of them"

Tiny Races are about as good as you can get for ZP ranking because the quality of entries is very high and there's four of them in an hour.
I've had quite a lot of fun this autumn just seeing how high I could get, for no reason other than "because it's there" just fun.

It is rather silly though, when I enter a B race and look on ZP to see that I have one of the top 5 ZP rankings in the race when there's no chance I'll get near the top 5. It's a bit silly, really, and hopefully what the new system will sort out, when it comes.

Yeah I guess that’s it. Alternatively the races that take you the furthest out of your comfort zone have the least ranking reward.

I guess I have more of a ‘variety is the spice of life’ approach to racing. Which I dare say isn’t conducive to getting a high as possible zp ranking. But it keeps me pushing forward and avoids me getting bored. In your case you’ve used it as a motivator so that’s handy too if you can use that as a motivator.

I never look at the zp ranking for that reason really. I find it meaningless because it doesn’t effect anything else. If it had some sort of bearing on the races you could join then that would be my ideal.

I just looked on zp ranking for Cyclchat for the first time in ages and a few of you guys in C are ahead of the majority of the guys in A and B. Maybe that shows the system is a little flawed.

Maybe the categories should be ring fenced if they’re to bare a relation to current form and ability rather than race selection.

thinking out loud and very negatively , people who now do all they can to keep winning ( apart from pedal harder )will be looking at all these changes and already be thinking of ways round any new system , its just the way some people are
any system will have loopholes for people trying to find them , I personally think it ought to be point promotion coupled with some sort of flagging system
say if everyone started with the same points in the season - you win , you get some points of the people you beat , you lose points to people who beat you . if you lose points 'on purpose' so you can race people with roughly the same points then in an important race you start winning everything , an exclamation mark to start with to know you are being watched , two strikes and your results are scrubbed
said it before but rgt does it quite well , you still get some who race round a course at 13w/kg but they are ignored as faulty equipment or named and shamed
I like it as you can race where you want , race in a lower race and you will win nothing for coming first with the chance that someone will steal a load of points for beating you , race in a higher race and you lose nothing for coming last with the incentive of beating someone and increasing points , then in a series everyone is in the right place with the worry of being flagged if all of a sudden they feel a lot better

You're not wrong. Yesterday evening they announced a change to reduce weight dopers adding a couple of kg to their weight to jump back down a Cat.

I forgot to mention yesterday that this is one of the aspects that the guys are zwiftracing.app are planning on implementing. It's often easy for the other riders to see something's off with a rider and a flagging could prompt a human intervention etc.

Another thing I'd like to see in the race organiser's kit is the ability to block specific riders from a series.

Last night I did the Ride Like a Pro Race #2 which was on the Richmond Rollercoaster course and there were 182 starters in C.

I planned to go off reasonably hard as it hits a steep downhill quite quickly and I didn’t want to be dropped. This worked well and I was in the top 50 as we hit the first climb, 23rd St. This and the following descent broke things up a bit and I tried to push really hard up and after the KOM to catch onto a group of 10 in 40-50 places. I failed in this and slowed up to wait for the similar sized group 5 seconds behind. You forget how hard you have to jump to latch onto a catching group!

We nearly caught the group ahead up the long drag but just failed and then it settled into a quick but manageable pace for the next 7-8kms picking off the odd straggler until we approached the finish.

I hadn’t been on the limit for the previous 7kms so hoped I might put in a better sprint than of late and I’d retained my aero powerup for it. With 300m to go I popped the aero and went for it. I passed all my group and did my best 15 minute power post-op which pleased me.

I was hoping to do my best 20 minute power and was on track to do this until things settled down after 15 minutes. I did do my best NP for 20 mins though.

I came 45th which is top 25% of starters and on ZP I was 32nd of 100 finishers, so top third - both of which exceeded my target of top half. Quite enjoyed that one and things are coming back slowly. Now if I could shift the 8kg that is hanging around, that'd help ^_^

There is a zwift forum thread where the guys developing it are talking to others about it and another one with the guys from https://www.zwiftracing.app/ guys too. It looks as if they are going for a "ranking plus results" model which sounds really hopeful

Race organisers will also have the option to customize how the race pens are organised (e.g. ranking, power, weight etc.). Still at the design stage though. But no new work will be done on ZwiftPower as that system too is 'deprecated'.

Just looked at Zwiftracing and claimed my profile. Is there a description anywhere of how it works and what it all means?

This thread gives a fairly good description. https://forums.zwift.com/t/introducing-zwiftracing-app-zwift-racer-rankings-done-right/591428

Excellent race last night Martin. I was due to do that one this morning, but after doing 4 laps of Cobbled Climbs in ZRL this week I couldn't face it yet. So I did this week's Zwift TT Club instead (10km, 1 lap of Watopia Flat Route and came 11th out of 11 in B). Would have been 6th out of 10 in C with that time, so nothing special. I might do the Race Like a Poo tomorrow morning.

I had email as well about Rapha Festive 500 Challenge, is that the same what you are talking about?. Only 8 days to accomplished that challenge. Not much for each days but if you skip day or two then it comes busy. For me 500km in a week or a 8 days is pretty much these days, like it says it is challenge.
