I'd change that to ..... "find what sort of races you enjoy and do lots of them"
Agreed that’s the best approach.

Speaking of which. I just got an email from Zwift congratulating me for doing 500k in December. What's that all about?Maybe it’s been mentioned already and I missed it. But the current ranking system on zwift power seems very odd to me. It kind of falls in line with zwift mentality of give everyone a medal for turning up.

It's more like "find what sort of races you can score well at and do lots of them"
Tiny Races are about as good as you can get for ZP ranking because the quality of entries is very high and there's four of them in an hour.
I've had quite a lot of fun this autumn just seeing how high I could get, for no reason other than "because it's there" just fun.
It is rather silly though, when I enter a B race and look on ZP to see that I have one of the top 5 ZP rankings in the race when there's no chance I'll get near the top 5. It's a bit silly, really, and hopefully what the new system will sort out, when it comes.

thinking out loud and very negatively , people who now do all they can to keep winning ( apart from pedal harder )will be looking at all these changes and already be thinking of ways round any new system , its just the way some people are
any system will have loopholes for people trying to find them , I personally think it ought to be point promotion coupled with some sort of flagging system
There is a zwift forum thread where the guys developing it are talking to others about it and another one with the guys from https://www.zwiftracing.app/ guys too. It looks as if they are going for a "ranking plus results" model which sounds really hopeful
Race organisers will also have the option to customize how the race pens are organised (e.g. ranking, power, weight etc.). Still at the design stage though. But no new work will be done on ZwiftPower as that system too is 'deprecated'.
Last night I did the Ride Like a Pro Race #2 which was on the Richmond Rollercoaster course and there were 182 starters in C.
I planned to go off reasonably hard as it hits a steep downhill quite quickly and I didn’t want to be dropped. This worked well and I was in the top 50 as we hit the first climb, 23rd St. This and the following descent broke things up a bit and I tried to push really hard up and after the KOM to catch onto a group of 10 in 40-50 places. I failed in this and slowed up to wait for the similar sized group 5 seconds behind. You forget how hard you have to jump to latch onto a catching group!
We nearly caught the group ahead up the long drag but just failed and then it settled into a quick but manageable pace for the next 7-8kms picking off the odd straggler until we approached the finish.
I hadn’t been on the limit for the previous 7kms so hoped I might put in a better sprint than of late and I’d retained my aero powerup for it. With 300m to go I popped the aero and went for it. I passed all my group and did my best 15 minute power post-op which pleased me.
I was hoping to do my best 20 minute power and was on track to do this until things settled down after 15 minutes. I did do my best NP for 20 mins though.
I came 45th which is top 25% of starters and on ZP I was 32nd of 100 finishers, so top third - both of which exceeded my target of top half. Quite enjoyed that one and things are coming back slowly. Now if I could shift the 8kg that is hanging around, that'd help

Just looked at Zwiftracing and claimed my profile. Is there a description anywhere of how it works and what it all means?
