I decided to go for the 1800 evening one this time with the theory that more people equals more draft. We'll see if it works. Have fun.Going at 10am UK for flambake Casse 25miles
That bloody petit climb
Totally get you. I'm about 300km from getting the Roval Alpinists at level 32. (Could be less if I could be arsed to ride one of the long routes and get double XP too many racing temptations though. wranking points)
Since very early on I've tried to reach the higher levels as quickly/efficiently as possible. The main hindrance is I still like riding outside
Latest news though is my wife's just got a new phone so her old one is now my second Zwift Companion controller for the "rearview mirror" tablet. Will be trying it out in tomorrow's race to see if it's any use or just plain silly (could go either way, that one ). Think it might be helpful when sprinting for the line to see what's happening behind. Watching the time gap in seconds isn't very satisfactory unless the gaps are large.
Can you run 2 open Zwift screens with 2 different camera angles?
Plenty of people in both. The two races played out very differently on Wednesday with the latter actually being better. The 6pm had multiple smaller groups, whilst 7:30 had basically two huge blobs.Might try and get on the 1930 one. 1800 definitely seems to be the bigger but just cant make it work

That's out of the way
I tried to stay with the big group as long as possible, seeing that the fractured packs were tiny behind. Alas not, I found myself marooned between groups for a few several minutes. Eventually group of 4 then 5 formed, with a strong pair of Canyon riders leading. They tried once to break our pack with a big sprint attempt on one of the primes. All it did was get me a new PB . I paced Petit ok(PB), slightly panicked when I could see loads of groups gaining as I neared the top. I put in a big effort a few times to group up with riders in front on the downhill-it worked. I stuck with this group contesting the sprints . Slightly died 400yds from the line as you start to climb Petit, again!.
Del C was in a group just ahead of me-Nice one Del
As ever video coming- I know you lot cant wait
Oh yeah, it was Tuesday - got my events mixed up.I like the idea of being able to draft all the way through the sprints and short KoMs. In my Tuesday race 1000 there were 66 people Vs 220ish for the evening.
The Tiny Races on Saturday will be trying out the new "Pack Dynamics 4" which supposedly will make things a bit more "breakaway-friendly". Interesting to see how that works out. (I shall be attempting a breakaway in one of them)
So an uphill sprint finishThat's out of the way

I can see they've added a 6pm slot for the weekend - I'm leaning towards that one now.
So an uphill sprint finish
The first Marina sprint doesn't count again, right? So it's Pavé -> Aqueduc -> Petit -> Marina -> Pavé -> Aqueduc -> Petit (~800m).
That's fewer segments than the previous race. Also, no massive rollers this time around.
Nice one! Don't forget to tell the physio you entered a race - and then take a photo of their reaction 182W is better than what I started with a year agoWell that was a bit of a surprise.
I thought I'd try a short race today - not really to compete but to see what my 20 minute power (and hence pseudo-FTP) was. I'd estimated it at 160W after a week back on the bike, and Zwift had allocated me 164W after one of my harder rides.
The race was Downtown Dolphin - 8 laps, I was in D Cat and there were 16 of us. I managed to stay with the front group for a few laps then 2 of them broke away up the incline. I stayed with one other guy the rest of the race and beat him in the sprint (he didn't really seem to have one).
I expected the winner to get DQ'd as he was averaging about 3W/kg so thought I might get silver. Turns out the 2nd guy was DQ'd as well so I got a gold
Zwift changed my FTP to 182W which is better than I thought I was at this stage.
Was it wise to race this soon into recovery? Probably not but hopefully no ill-effects.
Easy riding for a couple of days now - and a trip to the physio on Monday for my next check-up.
Good thing it's not a 'slutty sprinter', Carl
