In regards to Bologna , I tried with tron then with tt bike and wheels
Think the power was the same within a couple of watts and the result was 1 second difference
If I was to do it again I would use tron or similar and see if I could draft someone part of the way and go for it on the hill
What you gain on the flat with tt is soon ate away when you point up

Bologna is only tt events with no draft though innit?

It's event only but I think you can and do have draftable races on there as well ast TTs

Yeah, you have to look VERY closely at the rules as each individual event can be set up slightly differently.

I've been in ones that were Zwift TT bike only; TT bikes only but you could choose which one; any type of bike but draft turned off for all; and any bike, draft switched on for non-TT. And all of those change the equation very slightly to what's the best option.

But at the end of the day, you've still got to put the power in to make it up the hill!

This one allowed any bike but there was no drafting so I went with the fastest TT setup I have - lvl 26 Canyon TT thingy and lvl 31 Enve 8.9 wheels.

I've read on the ZI site that supposedly the Zipp 858 (lvl 37) is fastest overall (better than full discs) because of the climb. Presumably, the new lvl 42 TT bike is better than the Canyon. Don't have access to either yet.

In terms of TT frames I think the Felt IA 2.0 (level 34) or the Scott Plasma RC Ultimate (level 33) are the best option as they're only marginally slower on the flat than the fastest TT bike (Canyon Speedmax) but much quicker uphill.

I only found this out AFTER I last did a Bologna TT but it hurt too much to do it again in a hurry!

I could buy it and borrow it to you if that would be only possible on Zwift. Maybe someday Zwift release an update where is new borrow your bike to your friends option.

Oh, interesting. Don't have them but I could buy. Saving drops for the disc wheels and Aethos though.

If you want a job doing right and prompt, do it yourself. I'd be still waiting till midnight if I kept with the RAC, foooking waste of time they are 😡

Now onto actual getting the tyres replaced. Local dealer expecting stock tomorrow morning

Now whilst I was waiting another driver had a blow out right on front of me having been forced to the edge of the road. Being an older lady, I offered to change her wheel for the spare. Unfortunately for her the pothole has trashed her wheel with a huge dent in the rim.

I did my good deed for the day.

Andy, Juhal is right. Dogging is clearly much more dangerous up there. No suburban car parks nearby? Still, if it’s where the older ladies go 😉

Like others said - I know it’s event only but can be any sort of event
I do have a question that maybe someone could help with
Does anyone think that weight of bike makes more / less /no difference if you weigh less ?
% wise a heavier bike makes a bigger %difference to a lighter person than a heavy weight but don’t know if it makes any difference to out come ?

See below Lee ... lighter riders do have to push relatively more than a heavier rider due to the weight of the bike (as they would in real life). Hence why very light riders have to push a higher w/kg when going uphill than a heavier rider. ZI refer to this as the 'true' w/kg

But the conclusion is that, whilst this is true, light usually wins as they need to put out less watts to get the same speed.

https://zwiftinsider.com/wkg-tests/

why is it that when two riders are holding the same w/kg, the heavier rider will always be faster? There are multiple reasons, actually–but one big reason is what we’ll call “true w/kg”–that is, including the weight of the bike in our w/kg number.

Suppose we have two riders, 100kg and 50kg, both riding at 3w/kg. But let’s say they’re on 9kg bikes. If you add that bike weight to the rider’s weight and calculate the true w/kg, you get this:

  • 100kg rider + 9kg bike @ 300 watts = 2.75w/kg
  • 50kg rider + 9kg bike @150 watts = 2.54w/kg
So even though both riders are holding 3w/kg, the heavier rider is holding a higher true w/kg.

So would it make such a difference that it would be better to ditch a heavy tt bike and use a light bike with aero wheels ?🤷‍♂️
