If the race settings are for no draft (regardless of what bike you pick) then you’re best off on a TT bike. But more important is the pacing - having the right bike might gain you 5-10 seconds, but I knocked over half a minute off my PR by pushing harder on the hill than on the flat (my previous attempt was even power for the whole course).

OK so the fire thing is down to new "Fire Socks" which are something that are now unlocked and available in your garage when you reach level 50.

Apparently you have to be doing 150% of FTP to activate the fire out of the back of your rear wheel when you're wearing the fire socks. So for me that's 476 watts or 6.1w/kg - not that high really. I guess I'll have to equip myself with them until the novelty wears off!

This clip should start at 13:56 - watch out for the guy who sprints past me on my left 🔥🔥🔥

(keep watching or skip to the end to see me completely muck up my sprint as I fumbled for my draft power-up, leading to an accidental group text box popping up and me starting my sprint with less than 100m to go 🤦‍♂️ - @mjd1988 probably would have beaten me anyway of course, but still )

ARRGGGH!!

New tyres fitted 2weeks ago, son has ruined 2 in one go.

Now I'm sat waiting to be recovered with a 3 hour bloody wait and another £360 in tyres

All I wanted to do was ride today:cry:

At least the view is pleasant

Awww man... I failed in becoming a proper B

Cause I did the TT in under 20 minutes :becool:

Got an FTP update on Tuesday from 221 to 224. And again, from 224 to 228 today.

Pacing was interesting - I think I did an 'OK' job. Left a teeny-tiny bit too much in the tank at the end.

Made my day. Let's gooooo!

And here I was, thinking, 'Wow, that's some really expensive bike tyres that Andy is buying'... Until the car photo.

Fit both flats to non-drive wheels and take quiet roads home.

Too far 16 miles to home. The rims will be trashed too. I've had an update saying it maybe even longer to wait for recovery. If that's the case. I'm going to try and get the car into my big trailer. No primarily designed for cars, bit has ramps, so might work:eek:

Snap! Zwift told me my FTP was 228 on Tuesday. Fingers crossed I get some gains now I'm racing regularly. You are flying atm Pete 👍

Two flat tires at once. I meant how often that can happen with bike or car or usually at all. In this season I had a one puncture with my bike few weeks ago, I was lucky that tire didn't deflate when I was on a ride, it happened over the night before the next ride. Hard luck for Andy.

If your ftp is 228 I’m a monkey’s uncle🙈🙈🙉🙉🙊🙊🦧🦧. You’re a stronger rider than that.

In regards to Bologna , I tried with tron then with tt bike and wheels
Think the power was the same within a couple of watts and the result was 1 second difference
If I was to do it again I would use tron or similar and see if I could draft someone part of the way and go for it on the hill
What you gain on the flat with tt is soon ate away when you point up
