Guys, I've sent out the Meetup invite for next Tuesday's Handicap race re-run.

Couple of things to note: 1. It's a 7pm start this time; and 2. I've increased the distance by 1km just to solve the annoyance that the standard meetup distance doesn't quite cover the full Strava segment.

If anyone who wants to race hasn't received an invite, please let me know on here and make sure you're following me on Zwift Companion app and I'll add you in.

Time gaps will be agreed very amicably by Team captains and announced before the race

Well, I am team captain now , so...

In other news no one else is probably interested in...

Remember a few months ago I said I was having a frame built for me? Probably not 😄. Well, still waiting on the frame. I think another month maybe. But the parts are rolling in. I’m going to use speedplay peddles for double sided simplicity they’re perfect for track bikes. But I’ve decided to swap out some of the heavier stainless steel parts for titanium ones.

Titanium spindles, ‘bow ties’, and bolts will reduce the weight of the peddle by nearly half I think.

That’s the good news. The bad news is speedplay are just about to announce a new range of pedals. So this little lot could be obsolete before I’ve even built the bike! Ah well... if I can just make it down to the car boot sale, I have a feeling a can sell them to a couple of dopes wearing blue T shirts for twice what I paid for them! 👍👍

Very interested to see how you get on with these.
I miss my speedplay pedals.

The spindles look well machined. I’ve read the bow ties sometimes sit proud but 🤞.

If your hankering for a set of speed plays then definitely hold tight. It looks like they’re range is about to include a power meter option.

It will be annoying if the old peddle becomes obsolete though. If the spindle design is different I can still move this stuff onto my other track bike. But it might be a pain getting replacement cleats in the future.

Yeah, GCN showed a glimpse of the box so fingers crossed. Could be very spendy though with what was already an expensive pedal system

Who’s building you’re frame Tommy . Wife bought me a lovely Columbus Life tubing frame built by Steve Goff for our 25 th anniversary , it truly zings along . Think I got her a Chanel handbag , which apparently was an investment as it’s now worth a lot more than I paid for it

That sounds lovely Andy. I really like steel frames. In fact I like all the different frame materials because they al have a different personality don’t they. But steel is kind of majestic if you know what I mean. There’s something very assured about it. Not like our royal family to be fair!

The one I’m having built is titanium though. From an American builder out of New York. It means I’m going to get hammered with import duty but the detailing looks so nice I think it’ll be ‘a lifer’ rather than just a toy 🤞.

Got some picks if your steel frame build?
