I didn't realise that- it's a bit rubbish really isn't it as it can spoil a sprint finish 😡
I didn't realise that either but I guess it does explain it.

Shows us in joint 2nd - Happy to share the podium spot with you @mjd1988 :okay:

I enjoyed that and am up for another go next week.

I’m up for a re run. It worked out really well I thought. Even going at 5w/kg at the front it’s tough to drop people if they can hold 3w/kg so there should be bunch finishes if we stick to flat courses. Or we could throw in hilly courses too but I guess it’s a lot harder to set handicaps. Either way I’m up for re runs. Thanks again for organising Paul

Who has suggestions for the format of a race next week then?

I'd propose the same course and format, with tweaks based on these observations from last night:
  • Unfortunately 68 were under-represented (and likely to be the same next week?)
  • Good tactics from CCC meant @Joffey won by over 30secs and was never troubled by the chasing pack of 23+68
  • CCC were a rider short after @Whorty couldn't make it
So one option for next week would be:
  • @Joffey to ride for 68. This would strengthen that team, and is probably how the teams will end up for ZRL next season based on current form so seems like a good idea to practice with them?
  • Assuming Carl is available to ride for CCC then reduce the time gap slightly
  • If Carl won't be available then re-consider the time gap for CCC completely (tactics last night presumably meant that the team pushed hard for half the race then sat up a bit??)
Another (simpler) option would be a traditional scratch race with a mass start. We could alternate between H&H and scratch until ZRL starts? The scratch races have always been good for stirring up friendly rivalries between individuals here which can be fun.

I was thinking about this too this morning - I thought how about making the winning time the 3rd or 4th rider over the line?

The time gaps are there or there about and based upon last night's ride, we could tweak them further and get us all coming together nicely in the last couple of KM? That might be a bit simpler despite our team being a wide range of abilities (and gets rid of my breakaway chances). I also think Carl is easily strong enough to do the same if I was in #68 and he was riding in CCC.

Anyway, that's my input. Looking back it was a good evenings fun on Zwift - cheers to everyone again :okay:

Agree Jof rides for #68.
I think turnout for 68 may improve if race time pushed back 30 minutes.
Why the need to reduce time gap?
I prefer TTT to scratch race.

That would take the format away from delivering the sprinter to the line to a more traditional TTT. I quite enjoyed the format last night but I don’t mind either really.

I like the idea of doing scratch races too. To me personally it’s what got me fit and I always enjoyed the personal duels wherever I was in the standings. But if you guys want to stick with the current format every week that’s no problem to me. I can always try and hassle paul, Pete etc into joining other races I’m in.
