I set myself a target of losing a stone in January and can happily announce I have lost 1 stone 5 pounds which means I am now (for the first time in bloody years) under 100kg!!! I am now 99kg on Zwift Power.

All this done without dieting, I just fiddled my weight on Zwift

Actually I did Dry Jan and logged everything on MFP. It's been tough at times but enjoyable at the same time. I'm 40 next Saturday (6th) so pleased to get below 100kg before that milestone and hoping stick under it for the rest my life.

I'll have a jolly good binge on beer and pizza at the weekend and then back on the straight an narrow and see how low I can get before lockdown is relaxed and cafe rides reappear :hungry:

Now to relax in front of the TV and wait until 00:01 to have a celebratory beer
:highfive: Just be careful not to get yourself promoted to B too soon

Bloody well done mate! That’s a massive drop 👍👍. I am genuinely happy for you. I don’t know how realistic it is to stop drinking long term for you. I couldn’t do it. Don’t want to! So I’ve cut back loads on the other sugary stuff to try and balance it out.

Looks like we are on for end of winter target eh!

Cheers Tommy :okay:

I don't think I'll be able to stop the booze long term - I think going forward I'll just stick to weekends and do it in moderation. Cutting the sweet stuff it really hard for me but I'm managing it with Frostie Cereal Bars, 100 calories and they are pretty sweet. Plus the dog eats some of it so less calories for me

Yeah I've managed dry january this year as well but have a ridiculous sweet tooth.

I've been doing intermittent fasting for the last month (I can eat anything I want between noon and 8pm, but nothing outside that except coffee) and it's been really good for stopping me eating a feed of sweet stuff before bed or randomly in the mornings. I don't eat breakfast do it has worked well for me.

I reckon you will be in B sometime soon tbh, but enjoy being at the sharp end of C!

The old sweet tooth must be a side effect of cycling! I think we all have it!

I must admit I am enjoying the racing at the moment, it's nice to have some good fields to race against. In D it was great fun but there wasn't enough people entering. ZRL has certainly helped it be more fun.

sugar is addictive. Literally. I read a really interesting article about it a few years back. Shame I didn’t save it...
But I found it helps to think of it that way. Addictive. The more you consume the more you want to consume. That of course works in reverse too. The less you have the less you crave it. There’s nothing in processed sugar products you can’t get elsewhere. Your body has no need for the amount we consume. So I treated it the same way I treated nicotine. I replaced it with something else. I replaced nicotine with this malarkey. And I try to replace processed sugar for natural sugar, I.e fruit. I really like fruit anyway so that helped. I also snack on nuts. With the latter you have to be careful to read up on which might provide what. They’re a fantastic source of energy and recovery. But some are far fattier than others so it can be a trap if it’s own.

I’m sure you guys know the latter stuff already to be honest. But that first bit I think really helped my mindset. The second bit just helped me shake off my dependency.

It's a good way to think and one that I hadn't though of. It might help me going forward. I love fruit too and I am partial to 15g of almonds on an evening so I might double down, bin the Frostie bars off and tuck into a nice bunch of grapes instead.

Another Dry January here... :okay:

Tough at times, I do enjoy a glass of red with food especially at the weekends.
But I am gonna enjoy a nice couple of cold 1664's tonight...

Disaster! Work have a new IT system and it looks like it's blocking zwift from getting online!

What else can I use zwift on? I don't have a personal laptop. I do have an old Ipad mini but don't have a charging cable for it

I've invested in an Apple TV box and use my smartphone (iPhone) to run the companion App. I was concerned with our setup which resulted in the laptop perched on a shelf and cabled to an old TV. ATVs apparently don't need to be the latest 4L version, so can sometimes be picked up cheaply, even new, it was cheaper than a second-hand laptop or PC which might or might not have given decent results.
There was a little bit of fiddle getting the resolution output set up so the whole screen was visible (had chopped the flags off the "Riders Nearby" list), and because of bluetooth limits, and running BT HRM, Cadence and the Wahoo together, you need to use the companion app on the phone. Now I have good graphics, takes just a minute or two to pair, and I've found that if I run Spotify on the ATV box, I can have music from the TV speakers.
