@Del C which team are you in? Is the WTRL Wanderers? If so, looks like we are in the same division as you this WTRL Season
Yes that’s my team and you’re right - we’re in the same division.

We’ve managed to bring in 4 new riders to our squad. We lost one, upgraded to A, and 2 others have left the team. 3 of the new riders are from my road club and the 4th is a mate of one of our Dutch riders.

All this means that I’ve dropped myself from the team tomorrow and decided to be the DS for the night.

The leagues are smaller with only 15 teams, so we’ve dropped to Division 2 even though we got enough points to avoid relegation in ZRL1. With 90 riders max it looks like nearly everyone will be getting points for their team.

Hopefully the racing will be closer and more competitive in ZRL2

If you end up not getting a ride every week let us know as there may be space on team 68 every now and then?

Totally unrelated but has anyone used the "whoop" app/band? Seems to be being promoted on every YouTubers videos at the minute. I know Garmin automatically does something similar (tracking fitness and freshness based on sleep, workout stress etc). Not particularly interested in trying it but can't avoid it at the minute

Did a very different sort of race today - the Deeside Snowman Sprint Series. Doesn't matter where you finish, as there's no points for coming first - instead the only points are at sprints and KOMs, but they are based on your time for the segment, not your position. This means that you can cross each line in last if you want, but if you've set the fastest time at any prime, it's you who gets the max points. Of course while you can go slow between sprints to get your energy back, you do still have to keep up some sort of pace to stay in a pack, as it is much easier to get a fast sprint time when you start it with a draft.

It was on the French R.G.V. course (makes sense, it's got the most primes in the shortest distance) and there were about 50 riders taking part in C, but only the top 20 at each prime got any points. I got 4th at the first Marina Sprint, was outside the points on the Pave Sprint and Aquadec KOM (to be fair, I didn't even bother contesting the latter) and then somewhere between 11th and 20th on both the Ballon Sprint and the second attempt at the Marina Sprint (ZwiftPower only shows top 10, but I definitely got something on both), so that's not too bad from my perspective.

Sounds really good that - I'll have to keep my eyes out for those races.

It’s a subscription-based service. GCN are sponsored by them.

That’s very kind Michael.

I’m aiming just to be a reserve for ZRL2. I’m trying to do a bit more base miles stuff, which seems to be paying off, and I’m riding my road club TT on Wednesday and TTT on Thursday. I can do it, but really 3 days in a row is too much, so I’ve decided just to stand in when needed.

I may be able to help if you’re short, but couldn‘t say for certain right now.

I’ve been monitoring my HRV everyday for a Long time now and on one particular day it was very low which is not good but I felt alright.
You then get an advisory “limit or no training”message but because I felt ok I carried on and did a good workout.
The next day I felt like crap and it proved to me that the hrv reading was a good indication to take it easy.
I’ve ordered a whoop device and getting it tomorrow so I’ll give it a good test.
I know DC Rainmaker was testing it and has given a good review on his site but I think he’s decided to stop using it.
Edit
The fascat coaches use the whoop and so is Phil Gaimon who I follow on YouTube and he written some good books when he was a pro cyclist and worth a read if you haven’t already.

Enjoyed this ride this morning, would recommend it for anyone at a loose end next Sunday morning. Chris Hoy and Doddie Weir are a pair of gentlemen.

The group ride this morning was lead by Chris Hoy, others that joined included Mark Beaumont, Mike Tindall and a few other well known names

Ive read things Chris Hoy had said a few times and I’ve always found him very impressive. His attitude always just seems healthy and also very honest with his approach to success and failure.

Next day, Hoy meets some Scottish journalists. One puts it to him that: 'In the last 24 hours everyone has been offering an opinion on Chris Hoy. But what does Chris Hoy think of Chris Hoy?'

Hoy doesn't miss a beat: 'Chris Hoy thinks that the day Chris Hoy refers to Chris Hoy in the third person is the day that Chris Hoy disappears up his own arse.'

I'm into week 2 of my self build rocker. Its early days for me so I probably can't really comment. What I would say is that If anything the fore/aft movement feels most beneficial so far.

Thanks both, toying with the idea of building one or buying one of these: https://turborocks.co/collections/all/products/realplate-react-buffalo-special-launch-offer

I'm not the most practical (despite being an engineer!) but can be lazy...

If you are borderline c and think there's any chance you will become a B probably best to start as a B, but if you feel you aren't likely to make improvements could try c? Do you have a link again to your zwiftpower profile?

One tip with that HRM!; Initially it was picking it up on zwift but saying 0bpm, it didn't actually read heart rate until I linked it to my phone and then unlinked it and repaired with zwift.

Don't know if it would have just read eventually or not but if you have that issue maybe give that a go

Not sure if this is how you link to profile:

Heart rate monitor has apparently been delivered, just not to me...

In all three of your races so far @straas our power numbers are on the cusp of Category B. I think that if you continue to race you will very quickly get upgraded to B Cat (only a slight increase in 20min power or small decrease in weight required).

Shame about the heart rate monitor - hopefully one of your neighbours has it!

Hi Folks. Hope everyone is well. I was chatting with BurningLegs? about maybe joining your team for WTRL. who do I have to annoy to get accepted? I'm a modish pack B cat rider. Usually 73kg (currently carrying 1kg of timber post Xmas). Most races I average around the 3.5w/kg, not great but working on it. I am typically around 72kg for start of normal season. on a good day can push out 950w sprint. So not going to excel at one thing but enjoy my racing. Moving up a category really sucks lol
