I've managed to acquire a Chromebook from work. Not good for much except web browsing, but thinking of using it during races for Zwiftpower Live.

I know there were issues with live data when Zwift took over Zwiftpower, but I just checked a couple of races that are happening right now and the live data is available. Did anyone use it during the recent ZRL series? That is where I would really like to use it - just wondering if live data was available during the recent series? Part of me thinks it might not have been to save resources??

I didn't think it was up, but I also thought that was because zwift had broken it when they took over zwiftpower.
Right enough I watched gcn following max steadman for the world championships and he had zwiftpower live open beside him

Ha! Yes I was looking for a race and saw you were in one so joined you. Rookie error - got caught out behind a slowing rider who caused a split. It was really early so if I'd reacted quickly I think I could have sprinted back on but I thought I'd be clever and sit on some wheels to bridge back up but that didn't work - and then it was too late! Well done - you finished 3 minutes up the road from me! That was partly because the group of 5 I eneded up in really didn't want to work - I was pretty much the only one willing to put any effort at all on the front. But I had 8 laps to plan my sprint finish and I won that at least ^_^
I guessed you must have somehow got caught out in that early spilt. Im surprised one happened so early leaving just 14 or 15 of us in the front group. I hung on until one lap to go when the A‘s strung it out on the ramp into the volcano so my final lap was taken at relative ease.

anyone racing on Tuesday evening? There’s a hare and hounds style race at 6:30 HERE. Or if there’s enough interest we could lay on a Cyclechat Christmas meet up handicap race for around 7pm?

I’m a maybe for Tuesday - off work now so planning to get out on an actual road on Monday. So might fancy a rest. But if weather is poor I will cancel so might be available

Why not use the Hare and Hounds as the Cyclechat race?? Everyone join but do a delayed start??

On reflection I think I came back to the racing a bit too early... I don’t regret it to be honest. I wanted to get back involved with the league. I’d do the same again given the choice. But I think I’m paying for it now. I had to bail from another race earlier today. My legs still not right. I’m having to avoid limping in front of the missus to avoid her ‘I told you so’s’. But the rest of the time I’m finding it hard not to limp. Long story (sorry) short. I think I’m going to try and take it steady for a while until my leg stops moaning at me! (And if the missus stops moaning too that would be a big bonus!)

Tommy, I think we can all understand why she may feel the need to moan at you...😀

I am up for a CC race/meet-up Tuesday.

it's probably easiest if we all just join the 6.30 hare n hounds race. Saves any arguments (and polls) over what time of day to race 😀 and it will give incentive for us to work in our respective groups to catch the group in front.

I've entered Cat. C... 👍

Just noticed a local league series over Christmas here in the SW so may ride that instead of Tuesdays Hare & Hounds...???

Seems like the end of ZRL season came at the right time for you. I think we are all prone to not giving injuries time to heal / doing too much too soon.

I mentioned a few weeks ago about only having the one power target left to achieve this year - that being my 60 minute power. My attempt is now scheduled for this Saturday. It will be an outdoor ride. The target is to beat 254W. I'll report back afterwards ^_^

Whilst this was my idea, I had discussed it with my coach who had agreed - and slotted it into my training plan. I had a rest day lined up on Friday and felt good to go yesterday morning. I had a decent breakfast and sorted my nutrition plan - which was to consume 2 SiS Beta Fuel drinks during the 2 hour ride (30 minute warmup, 60 minute max power test, 30 minute cool down.

It was damp on the roads but I got down my racing bike so my brain knew this was serious.

I set off around 11am and felt okay as I warmed up and did a few high cadence spins. Then it was time to go. Roy (Coach) had advised me to negative split the attempt - and to start at around 254W looking to creep it over the 255W target in the second half - seeing what I had left. I completely agreed with him..... until the flag dropped and I started off up a hill at 300W+. I kept this lunacy going for 7-8 minutes and then managed to reign myself in and revert to a more sensible power. However, I was feeling ok at around 265W so I largely kept my power there.

Time ticked on and after 20 minutes I had averaged 265W and was feeling okay. I was thinking that gave me quite a lot of leeway to reduce my power later and still hit my target of 255W. The wind was from the South and was in my face which helped to give me some resistance to push against, as did the occasional hill and bumps. Things were looking good and at 40 minutes my average had crept up to 266W. I was feeling confident but waiting for the inevitable forced reduction in power as the hour got closer. Amazingly, it didn't happen and I was able to push hard right to the end and as the 60 minutes approached, the Average Watts on my Garmin, which my eyes were glued to, crept over the 268W mark. I hung on until the hour ticked over and felt that wave of satisfaction. Amazingly, I felt okay and now with the wind at my back, felt amazing as I span back home.

So I am very pleased as you can probably tell. The concern now is that on Jan 1st I have to start aiming to beat all the Power PBs that I have set in 2020. Oh sh#t

{I didn't plan to write a novel here - it just happened! Sorry}

Nice effort Norry! Will you start off next year by repeating the hour now that you know how you paced the 268w effort?

Cheers Al. That is a good thought. Normally I'd expect a race or a TT during the season to be my best chance - but it hasn't panned out that way this year.
