currently, a lot! 83kg with estimated 267w so just at 3.2w/kg

Current plan is to complete this 4 week training course then try out a race - I didn't realise it was a 7 day a week course when I started it though! I'm using it as a bit of an incentive to try and stay off the booze for the duration so I feel less guilty about indulging over christmas.

I'll swap your 83kg for my 103kg

(Apologies if you know all this already)

Depending on the race, 20min power/FTP isn't even the best indicator of how well you will do, although of course it's helpful!

Practically, most races come down to 1minute and sometimes 5 minute power outputs, as well as how good you are at recovering in between. For most of the race you can hide and draft but at a few crucial Stages the 1 minute power comes into play and that's how races are usually decided.

I managed to hover right near the front for the first part of the race and I find if you can get to the front, the effort required to stay there isn't really any more than staying with the group further back. In fact I almost found it easier in a way, as I didn't need to do hard efforts to move myself up past loads of sticky drafts etc.
Thats interesting Bridgy. Like Martin I found myself at the very back of the bunch for most of that first 10km. In part I took the punt that there wasn’t much risk of a split before the sprint.

Looking at the stats I was riding on average at 270w (3.6wkg) and at the very back. I moved up a couple of times on Tommy’s advice, putting in a big effort, getting to the front, but again I quickly slipped back through the group so there must be a sweet spot that allows you to hold position, presumably based on some sort of relationship to your power output and that of the riders around you. Still 3.6wkg should have been plenty to hold position mid bunch??

No, didn't know any of that so thanks!

Completely new to zwift (and turbos) so just figuring this out.

Had a 'free' ride in the training plan today - was meant to stay within zone 2 but it was really difficult, power shooting up and down all the time.

Also couldn't resist a few sprint efforts. Didn't manage much over 800w though, no idea how people get over 1500w!

We got to the finish contesting 73rd and I started my sprint a bit too early. 3 riders passed me but I beat the Noobs guy....... or did I??
I see some comments in the A race in Zwiftpower confirming what we all knew that what you see in Zwift isn’t what everyone else sees.

What does that mean, then? Points might change after the correction in Zwiftpower?

Or the points/placings are accurate, but labels just switched round?

Sounds like the latter?

Sounds like the latter (incorrect labels). Although I'm convinced I got a second and third place on the balloon and forward pave sprints, but got placed 4th in ZP

I’ve read that there seems to be sync issues on Zwift on Tuesday, to do with the new update. iOS users in a different version, pc users in another...dunno about android. Someone reported that in their race the first and second placed riders where invisible for parts of the sprint.
