I think they only run a limited number of steering enabled races under the futureworks banner. I was all set to order the Sterzo in the summer when it launched, so close I was about to hit the button when the last stock item must have sold and it disappeared in front of me. In hindsight im glad that happened as i think the novelty factor would have worn off by now and it’s not needed in races and I don’t see it catching on.

I liked the idea to be honest. But it’s a bit all or nothing isn’t it if it’s going to get traction.

I thought long and hard on whether or not to call out last nights winner in our race. in some ways I wouldn’t want to be classed as a sore loser, but at the same time Carlos Gordon’s improvement was out of this world, so clearly a sandbagging ba$ket, or else a power meter gone wonky. He’s now well into the Cat A bracket it he repeats that effort. But having thought about it I’ve posted on Zwiftpower. Cheating heure! If he does get a DQ we might be promoted to first place keeping up our 100% record 🤓
I just read your comment on ZP Alan - that really made me laugh

If you think we should flag it the best thing to do is send an email to WTRL race control with a link to the guy's ZP profile I would think. They do say they're looking through the results but who knows if they'll pick up on it or not?

This guy? https://www.zwiftpower.com/profile.php?z=1782244

It is difficult to interpret his profile, isn't it. He was close to Cat A numbers in the two races before ZRL but not enough to get promoted.

He was well into Cat A territory yesterday with a max HR of 197bpm but avg 165bpm. How the heck can someone do that?! Suggests to me he might still be riding within himself...

One thing I will say is that this is the first course that has suited lightweight climbers, so not unexpected that some folks will post higher w/kg numbers on this course than any of the previous ZRLs. This guy does seem a bit fishy though! It's the heart rate that makes me raise an eyebrow!

Very cynical Alan. We all have days when we raise our all-time average power, 20 minute, 5 minute, 1 minute and 15 second power by about 40% on one ride.

Bit of a random one...

I have a set of zipp 303 wheels I’m about to put a up for sale. They’re tubular rather than clincher, which for me means lighter and you can run them at a lower psi but it is a bit niche.

I changed the rear hub to a dt swiss 240 which is quite a big upgrade. And they have new conti competition tubs glued on them. I just don’t use them since I put the new hub on. I have a few sets of wheels so these ones have been sat in a wheel bag for a couple of years. Now I’m going to buy some new track wheels I think I have to really sell a set to try and justify it to myself.

So long story short I thought I’d offer them here to you guys first. I don’t know what they go for to be honest. But I’ll have a look tomorrow, and if any of you guys did want them I’d knock a fair chunk off for mates rates. So if anyone’s interested send me a pm. Attentively no worries if not, I think I should sell them pretty easily if I get the price right!

I would have thought race 1 up the volcano would have brought out a big wattage. He is a light weight in fairness so maybe just maybe he had a good day. Looking at his Strava profile he has put in some fairly tasty outdoor rides.

@bridgy I wouldn’t bother reporting him. If WTRL spot it and question then fair enough. I notice 2 of the Noobs have replied to me on Zwiftpower. 😄

Yeah I feel the same to be honest - happy to leave it for WTRL to do their thing

EDIT - oh right, I see you've made friends with him now in the ZP comments! ^_^

As Michael say, sudocream and rest. If it’s not infected it should go down quick enough - a day or 2. If it gets infected then you’ll be off longer. I’ll see if I have a picture here...
I always popped 'em, drained, then antibiotic cream, ready to ride in ~24. Happened a lot more when most of my cycling was off-road and spending 4-8hrs bouncing a trail wasn't unusual.

I know of a fella who had a boil and what happened after really makes you cringed

From a boil it became infected, trip to doctors who promptly sent him to hospital-boil had developed and he acquired necrotizing fasciitis. I believe he has had 3 operations to save most of one glute and anus xx(

His life was critical at one point.

Clean thoroughly and keep a close eye if it doesn't settle- dont ask for picutres- plenty of Google info if you want

It does happen like that in other markets @<Tommy> - look at inkjet printers and games consoles for example. They're often sold at very low margins or sometimes at a loss because the vendor is playing a long game where the consumer will spend on ink cartridges or software titles.

None of the incumbents could consider that sort of commercial model, but if they wanted to then Zwift could. If Zwift are firmly of the mindset that they're a software company selling hardware to drive subscriptions then its a logical step for them (the Microsoft model). If they now consider themselves a hardware company who make software that drives hardware sales then perhaps not (the Apple model).

I guess we are all waiting to find out, aren't we! 🙂

The speculation was that Specialized would be the Smart bike manufacture partner and that was why they made that significant investment in the last, recent, funding round.

That was the plan, but as the riding has been going so well I'll go mad no being able to ride :banghead: We have a carer come in for respite time on Thursday afternoons so i normally try a 3 hour ride ... looks like I'l go for a walk instead if it stays dry ^_^

Do a Contador and do a whole ride out of the saddle. Wasn't it his Dad who took his saddle off to make him train that way?

Braver than me ..... I think I'll take the easy route and let it subside on its own ^_^

You know what, I was thinking about that yesterday - see how long I could ride out the saddle (there was a GCN video challenge of the same). I do this on rides sometimes but I struggle with anything over about 2 mins so maybe this isn't such a bad idea at some stage. Def resting though today - still sore and I guess a day extra rest isn't going to kill me (and I don't fancy losing my right buttock  )

That sort of implies you would be happy losing your left one though :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Funny that Norry and I had the same suggestion ... I was thinking of low cadence high power drills out of the saddle ... The issue I have with doing something like that is the temptation to collapse back onto the saddle at the end of the interval!:ohmy:
