Well done @BurningLegs - 6th on the road (with at least 2 dodgy results in front) and 5 prime points!

All 6 of us came home as well so well done.

Hope #23 got on well

Just to sulk a bit- on a personal level very disappointed. I've put the graph of my power below. I supertuck a lot but I at least 3 of the spikes are power losses of about 10-15 seconds.

First one was after 2km at the start of the climb, I burnt a lot of matches trying to stay at the back of the front group and ultimately dropped back a bit. Not the end of the world.

2nd didn't really impact me too much. I think kept surfing groups as we collected riders up the road and eventually up the climb before the 2nd Kom a group of us attacked and got away- at this point I was in a group of maybe 8 riders from 16th to 24th or thereabouts.

3rd crash at very start of second Kom. Went from 17th , dropped out of group, saw another two smaller groups go past.

I didn't have a lot of energy left but I would have backed myself to stay with the slower members of the group I was in, or even if it came together outsprint some of the group's so very disappointed not to get any points.

Bright side; 5 minute power very good, and 40% made a BIG difference for me on the steeper segments.

Team effort was great and @steverob did a fantastic job

I was watching you at the start and saw that first power drop .... I was hoping a one-off but seems not. Well done though for sticking at it. Power drops on climbs are heartbreaking

I’ve always hated the NYC map but it’s gone up in my estimations tonight

Thanks @steverob - couldn’t have had a better DS. I didn’t know the course and your info was clear, concise, and timely. Great job 👍
I watched quite a bit of your race in between home things .... you had another cracking ride. I missed the 2nd kom but when I joined viewing again you was well up the field :notworthy: Nice final sprint prime too :wahhey:

Super fast start , got to bottom of first KOM in first 30 or so but couldn’t quite hang with the first group that split away , ended up in a small group but managed to sweep a few others up and rode middle section in a group of fifteen or so. Nobody was working really so we did t make any more progress on the groups in front , felt strong on second KOM and had a decent sprint to finish to get about fifth out of the fifteen , only a point for finishing though as I came in 40 th .
The racing was a bit negative after the split , personally , think it would be better to have earning points to go down to half way or two thirds way down the pack , it would encourage the split groups to be more aggressive in their racing instead of just riding round .
Well done @BurningLegs , great result , also Pete and Tommy , haven’t seen official results yet but sounded like you were hoovering sprint points up .
Really enjoying this series , even got used to the late start time😀

Great going Legs and bad luck Michael. I had a mishap again tonight fumbling around in the dark trying to hit the Apple TV remote button to deploy a power up - I’m normally okay at fumbling in the dark but tonight the remote was upside down so I accidentally hit the TV app button, exiting me out of Zwift. By the time I got it back I’d dropped out of the group I was in and in no mans land. I jumped in with the next group on the road for the 2nd KOM and was drifting from 27th to 35th as the group splintered. I was about to say “fook it” and sit up as it looked like any points were gone, but I dug in and got over the top with a small pack having put in a really big effort just at the summit. Sprinted for 25th place which was the best I could have hoped for considering.
Well done everyone!

Now I missed the first two minutes of the race, because my Companion app crashed literally 2-3 minutes before the race was due to start and I was unable to use a Fan View on any of our riders (I was just cruising round the New York course on my own at the time), but eventually managed to jump into @Ketty's view and stuck with him up the first part of the KOM and switched to @BurningLegs once he got away with the leaders.

There's a couple of bits where it looks like I'm randomly jumping around between other riders, but most of that is where I've been doing some scouting on riders up the road / in the group behind, but then finding it's bloody hard to try to jump the view back to your own riders - especially when you're pedalling and stretching to use a mouse at the same time and accidentally click on the wrong guy!

Also, you will occasionally see my name appear on the Riders Nearby list (although mainly only when the race is on the ground level roads), but I don't think the group ever actually caught up with me - they always turned off onto a different route segment before they reached wherever I happened to be.

Amazing ride @BurningLegs & well done all of the CC#68 team 👍
Great video as ever @steverob.

One of the riders who organises the team I sometimes ride with on a Thursday in the WTRL was in your group for a while, Bartlett of TCG riding in the road.cc kit.

Well done team #68 and #23 last night. Another great set of performances:bravo:

It went pretty well for me. I knew it'd be unlikely that I'd be able to stick with the fast guys over two KOMs so resolved myself to give everything on the first climb to attempt to be in the lead pack, recover, and then target the first sprint. And that went perfectly as I managed to crest the KOM in 2nd place and follow that up by winning the sprint (I'd done my homework and planned to launch just before the top of the incline that preceded it) and no-one could get in my draft 😎.

That did leave me pretty cooked and although I gave everything on the forward KOM I got distanced on the final ramp by Tommy and the rest of the group. It was then a case of putting in a solo TT effort to the end. I had a 40 sec gap to the group behind (including @bridgy, whom I requested over Discord not to chase!) and I was able to keep hold of half of that to the finish. And then Bridgy headed his group home :okay:

I've really enjoyed this series - the team aspect is great. Particularly as we're all doing so well ^_^

Well done Pete - I didn't realise last night you'd picked up KOM and sprint points as well - awesome!

My tactics were the opposite of yours - I decided to try not to destroy myself on the first climb even if I ended up in the second group - in the expectation the front group would get caught - and to save something for the second climb and finish. First part of that went a bit wrong as the front group was bigger I think than my chase group and mever did get caught! But the second part of my plan worked well, and I got over the second climb still in contention in the second group, and ended up winning the sprint to the line. This was probably helped by seeing you solo up ahead Pete so I made sure not to do any turns on the front at all after the second KOM and so probably saved a bit of energy - if it hadn't been you I'd probably have tried hard to close the gap!
