Oh definitely, it's going to be great fun. I think it will be better once we know who we are racing against and are in set groups. Iove the dynamic of knowing who your enemies are, and that's where tactics come into play.

It will be just be survival mode for the first race in particular.

I think you’ve got a great team. some proven, some potential. I see lots of fight and sprit in it and what else can you ask for? Look to the guy next to you and expect the same from him as you expect from yourself. No more no less. Let’s face it the cards land where they land. None of us win races generally with the exception of Alan winning some. But we can be realistic. Realistic in the sense that we give everything. Absolutely everything. And then we see what result we get afterwards.
Thats exactly it. Give everything!

those first 10km and the Titans climb will be key to gauging the opposition. I can imagine the field splitting on the volcano so we need to ensure Tommy and Bridgy make into that front group when the selection happens. Hopefully we can keep the team together as long into the race as possible.

I feel like they spent longer on team names

Worth a read

So we are likely going to be in divisions of up to 30 teams (180 riders potentially but doubt all teams will be "full")

First two rounds may not count towards your division result but will place you in the division.

Aero is better than lightweight setup. I think I may now go for the Tron.

Hopefully for the first two races at least we will be in the same division!

I'm really looking forward to the ZRL but if there's circa 180 riders in each race its going to be DAMN hard to finish in the first 29, or the first 5 at the KOMs or intermediates, which are the only ways to score more than the 1 point you get for just finishing. Which is a shame because once you're in a position where you think it's going to be impossible to be in that top 29, you have no reason to keep on pushing really.

One of the things I liked with the 3rSundowner series I've just done was the fact that it was all about GC times so whatever happened in the race there was an incentive and reason to keep going as hard as you could till the end.

E.g in that 3r Sundowner league although I finished 10th on GC overall my best non TT race finish was 39th out of 120

I would tend to agree. Hopefully when they stratify the group's it'll mitigate that a little but but would be nice if there was results up until 50 say.

I think having less intermediate points makes sense but again maybe 5-10 get 1 point to keep more people interested. Keen to see how the team irl set up, with separate point ststems for sprints and koms (i.e. like stage races in real life) as that should give people a reason to race hard even if they know they aren't going to do very well in GC.

Still, raring to go, and won't know how it pans out really until we are a few races in

That caught me out at the start of the series. So used to points based leagues that there were some races that in the last mile I was riding solo and knowing that I couldn’t catch the ride ahead and the rider behind couldn’t catch me, so I just cruised to the finish. Of course if I had kept the power down all the way to the line, I might have gained a few more seconds here and there - learned my lesson by the end of the league though!

I’d prefer a gc type system based on times rather than points. But I’m not sure how that would work in a team event.

We could create a Cyclechat mini league with a spreadsheet to keep ourselves entertained. But again I’m not sure how constructive that would be if we’re trying to be a team.

Hi chaps, been a while hey?! I’ve been struggling with illness so been off the bike and off the forum but raced this afternoon and really enjoyed it. Firmly B Cat numbers with 3.4wkg for 1h5m which was more than I hoped for after not racing or training since 20th of August!

Planning to race my way back into fitness by joining mass start events so I can enter as A Cat to avoid DQ but race with Bs on the road. Went well today and really enjoyed it.

Hoping to be more active here again, too. Looks like there are two teams entering the new Zwift Racing League?

Nice to have you back Legs and sorry to hear you’ve not been well. You haven’t missed much in the way of CC races. The main news is that we have 2 B Cat teams in the Zwift race league and if you can get yourself downgraded then you’re welcome to join in. The other big new is @Spartak got himself back into C and @Ketty hammered us B’s last night in a spin round next weeks race course. Man on form!
