So just starting the ZA today. PSA, if you're doing the group rides, they do have the fence active, and if the leader stays at the advertised pace, you'll be crawling. Mine (B group) was a painfully slow 45 minutes, it felt like I barely even worked up a sweat by the end.

Given the lack of a workout from the group ride, I signed up for the short crit city race a couple hours later. I figured I'd be slightly fatigued, but not significantly so. Boy was I wrong. I was pathetically slow and finished down near the bottom. My typical performance on that course would have likely put me on the podium in 3rd.

I'll check in here before repeating tomorrow just in case we need another for the team race. Then onward to the ZA workouts later in the week. Based on the group ride chatter, the first ZA workout is tough.

The first workout was very tough. Those 8min were brutal but I held average of 303w so was happy with that especially after the ‘warm up’

You're planning going abroad:stop:

Tuscany is nice for rolling hills

Think Strada Bianca ^_^
We went to Tuscany for a couple of weeks last august (19) and the riding would be amazing round there. Good hills but nothing ridiculous. Oh and it was warm. Very warm :heat:

Perhaps spring would be best.

Bit random but has anyone cycled in Italy? More specifically not the dolomites or the alps. Wondering if there’s a good (Mountainous) region to cycle this time of year?
I can recommend north of Veneto region, where Pantani came from. I stayed in Riccione at the Belvedere one of the excellent cycling Hotels. It’s Trip Adviser’s small hotel of the year or something and where Riad CC run a cycling camp every year .it also has the greatest food buffet I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Really fantastic Italian food.

Great cycling on Pantani’s training routes and great food👌

Sardinia is good for cycling, we've stayed near Olbia in the NE of the island for the last 3/4 years, although not moutaineous it does offer some good hills and lots of rolling terrain. I really enjoy the climbs up to San Panteleo ( which was used on the Giro a few years ago ).

I've also stayed in the SE of the island near Villasimius but that's pretty flat, the only hills there are the busy coast road from Cagliari.

Food is great..... Best pizza 🍕 I've ever tasted... 👍

.

Does the 7.45 change when the clocks go back in a few weeks in wonder?/🤷‍♂️
From the website:

  • Each League System is attached to a particular timezone in the geographical region after which it is named.
  • Times will remain the same in that city regardless of summer and winter clock changes but other cities may see a time difference.
  • Race times may vary from week to week.

Hi @bobinski sorry if I've missed anything but I think you're the only person who hasn't yet replied to my ZRL post yesterday to confirm if you're up for racing - in Team #68 for stage 1....?

I know you were toying with whether to ride with us or in a ZSUN team, but it would be good if you could confirm one way or another whether you can ride in stage 1 so that we can ensure we have the full roster of 6 riders for each of our teams. Thanks mate.

By the way guys, just a quick reminder that HRM's are required in the ZRL (you can race without one but any points you score will be halved), so if you're racing in one of the teams and you either don't have one, or yours is dodgy or broken, now might be a good time to order a new one :okay:
