I’m really rooting for Dumoulin. I’d be amazed if he challenges after the year he’s had. I’m kind of assuming he ends up playing support for Roglic once the dust has settled. But I’d like to see him have a good tour.

The second string in Ineos's team, Carapaz another tour winner, has little media attention

Anyone who is prepare to get off the bike and have a crap in the middle of a Grand Tour gets my vote👍 I bet he now carries wet wipes 😁It’s been a strange return to professional cycling and anything could happen over 3 weeks. I certainly don’t think teams will get away with bossing and controlling the race the way Sky and the INEOS did. It should make for an exciting race.

For me this is the key point - we've seen riders race over a week recently, and even then some riders have struggled towards the final few days. 3 weeks is a long time so the riders who still have something during the final week will win, and I don't think anyone has a clue yet who that might be.
Be nice to get a surprise winner this year from a lesser team :okay: Really looking forward to it and hope it's a good battle.

This is the closest I’ve come to a timed hill climb. It’s one of the climbs on the uk 100 but it’s very short really. They use it for a hill climb competition but I always seem to miss it. It’s just over a minute and my best power is around 480w. I think I can get over 500w if I went for it but I’m only ever going up there to do hill repeats so I don’t know for sure. I find the thing that holds me back in the end is the lungs more than the legs when I’m really pushing hard. The time gap between me and the guys who are quick is quite daunting!

My outside minute power is higher than my zwift one by quite a bit. I’m not sure what that means... whether I’m quicker going uphill in real life or maybe it’s just neo power vs power meter power.

I find that the power just fades away towards the end - a bit like doing a Ramp test - but yes it feels like the breathing going.

I also have much better power outside especially going uphill. I think it is because it becomes a whole body exercise outside, swinging the bike left and right and really pulling on the bars in a way I can't on the turbo.

And he's arguably had a better season up until now. With a very mountainous first week it'll be interesting to see how the teams shape up.

If fit roglic was looking fantastic. I'd love Tom D to get another GT, really deserves it after some awful luck, it would be incredible after so long out. Also would love to see pinot light it up again.

To be honest I just hope they get to paris

Domulin lacks that acceleration punch in the mountains that Froome, Roglic, Yates etc have. He can hang in with a constant pace, but has shown to be distanced when put under short bursts of power.

Pinot, is entertaining, but is mentally frail when things go wrong, gives up the effort. I cant blame him, it can be demoralising, but compared to the likes of Froome he is mentally weak.

I need some new shoes (SPD) as mine are manky .... any recommendations? Don't really want to spend over £100 if I can help it. I think a few others on here ride SPD ... :okay:

Will be interesting to see how you get on, especially compared to my efforts in a C race on a London course last week. Although it's a flat course overall, there are some undulations in the lead-in that can cause problems. You're a better climber than me, so you should be able to hold on to the group at the first hillock (I couldn't!) but at the same time, ZP says there are already two B's in the C pack, so they will clearly be driving the pace which may be the make or break of the ride.

Sadly it did not happen, fell asleep on the sofa.

New 3R series. GC format 😀

I have Shimano mtb shoes, I've had them 6-7 years. Cheap too compared to road cycle shoes. Mine are starting to look a bit worn, but are so comfy

Same here. Think I paid about £60 for mine and had them at least five years now, probably more.

They look a bit dated but I don’t really care about that. Not enough to replace them anyway

Pearl izumi do some nice shoes. Some of their road shoes are spd and spd-sl.

I have a pair of their alp shoes that are very comfortable
