1/10?!?
Obviously one rule for the carbon toff’s in this site and another for the rest of us 🤨

re the start recent experience of TTT’s suggests peeps will get gapped at the start unless there is some sporting agreement to come together and make use of the draft for as long as the sporting agreement lasts😉 Which , my B friends, is as long as we can to keep the A’s at bay😁
Then it is every man woman and child for himself👍

I think the teams would be foolish to not do at LEAST the first lap together, just to bring everyone up to the right speed.

However I'm figuring that any attacks probably won't start happening until the penultimate lap at the earliest - there might be a few riders dropped from groups before then, but I'm more thinking about someone trying to go off the front and given the fairly flat course, I can't see that working from more than a lap and a half out.

+ @IrishAl as I didn't get to race last night in the IRL league I've gone to 50/50 for tonight now. I've accepted the meetup and baring no mishaps here hope I can get on the start line. I assume I'll go off with my fellow C's :okay:

There’s a real danger people will get gapped at the start isn’t there. As Alan says there will probably be a gap of some kind between the guy furthest forward and the the guy at back. I also noticed that even when everyone tries to head of at the gun some people suffer a delay or lag. Maybe we should leav it down to each group to decide if they want to play nice or not? See how it goes tonight and adjust maybe? Or agree to a rolling start until the group has formed?

Secondly I might not make the start tonight. My back has gone and a nights sleep and a mouthful of painkillers hasn’t done much to improve it. I know, I know 1/10! etc etc... if I don’t make the line I can try and manage the timings. But hopefully I can start.
With such generous excuse ratings currently being given this might be a good time to again mention that I raced last night so my legs might be a little sore :cuppa:

Seriously though mate, hope the back heals up soon - we've all been there and it's grim

Really it's in each group's self interest to stick together at the start so they're as big a group as possible - and therefore faster. There will be a time for the "every man for himself" part of the race later!!

Personally I think B & A shouldn't group together and instead race from the off trying to drop their fellow group members...

@Spartak @JLaw @Ketty @steverob

What we thinking chaps? Slow first few hundred metres, form the group and do at least 1 Lap as a group? Then that leaves 4 laps for monkey business? Also if we are doing a lap we should all try and take equal turns on the front for that first lap.

@IrishAl - Jeff still showing as 'pending' so not sure if he's coming or not?
Fingers crossed I can make it now tonight and ride with you chaps. I think our best chance is to stick together as long as possible and when/if B catch us we jump on their wheels and let them take us to the line where we use our blistering powerful sprints to steal glory from their grubby hands :wahhey:

Or something like that

We'll definitely be faster as a group rather than attacking each other :bicycle::bicycle::bicycle::bicycle::bicycle:

I'm reading it like this: it's essentially a TdF stage that's coming in to the last 20K or so.

The first group out are the breakaway - while we may be all riding for different teams, we know that we don't stand a chance of staying away unless we work together, or at least that truce will hold until we see the 5K to go banner!

The second and third groups are the peloton, except maybe there were some crosswinds earlier that split the groups up a bit (echelons!) and now you've got all the sprinters teams plus some team leaders pushing hard in group 2, while most of the rest of the GC contenders (and those who weren't paying attention to the split) are in group 3 trying to get back on and not lose any time!

That's pretty much it! I just hope we can emulate 2005 and a lone rider can beat the bunch sprint...

Not sure what a carbon tiff is exactly. But I know I’m not listening to a lawyer, sat in dulwich mansion, giving a speech like he’s a man of the people! Especially when that particular lord of the manor was the main reason excuse scoring system was introduced in the first place!!!

Now... obviously the excuse scoring system is a complicated one.... so I don’t think it’s worth going into every nut and bolt of it. But serial offenders will of course be punished worse than people with genuine reasons. And of course those who toil at manual labour from dawn till dusk should expect slightly more leniency. When you add to that the fact I myself know how much pain I’m in, I think we can all agree that the score should in fact be changed to a more realistic 3/10 👍
