Del if you fancy a spin next week Tuesday I’d happily just stick in a few miles with you If you want the distraction. If it’s not mentioned again all the best for next week with your dad mate.

Thanks for the offer Tommy.

Don’t know how I’ll feel. It’s an odd time.

Funeral is in the morning. There’s a limit of 30 people, no chapel available due to Covid and no wake. He opted for a burial, so we’re just standing by his grave for 20 minutes. Understandably, a number of family members who would have attended won’t be there.

I’ll see how I feel. I definitely won’t race. I know how my mind works and I won’t have the focus for that. If I do ride It will probably be a last minute decision.

Still planning for 9 events but we are holding out picking routes for later events In the hope that the France routes become available. Out and back this monday (double points on the volcano KOM 😫) followed by a TT which I think is a flat route. Then hopefully 2 or 3 france routes if Zwift play ball.
Do you know if the initial fuego flats sprint is a prime with points too? It's about 2km in from the pens, so could be manic!

This is Monday's route

My race strategy will be to roll through the sprint, hit it up the KOM and try to get down with a small group to sweep up more points on the reverse.

I will probably get dropped before the sprint

I'll contest the sprint, give it the beans on the Volcano KOM (hopefully getting a gap over my competitors) then try and recover enough to make it over the Zwift KOM with a lead for a relaxed ride to the finish.

I doubt it will go anything like that

Interesting ... there will be those who will try their arm in the sprint (@mjd1988 ) because they don't fancy their chances in the KoMs. Burn too many matches too early and those hills are gonna hurt

Not done any proper climbing yet with these C riders so not sure what to expect Monday. I might try to sneak a point or 2 on the sprint and hope my lower weight will help me stay in contention on the Volcano and still there over the KoM. Could be a very broken ride with riders all over the place - race tactics could play a big part.

Yes, there is no chance of me hanging with the top climbers in this race (particularly the juniors or rogue a's) up the Kom, they are flying and there's nowhere to hide. I am getting better at hills but im a good 35kg heavier than one of the top climbers:mrpig:

First sprint is my big goal (hopefully 2nd behind Alan) and I'll do my best to hang with some form of group up and down the big hill as a workout!

I can see you taking that first sprint as many won't want to risk it with the Volcano looming .... I think there is a chap in C who will do the same. Beat me in first sprint on Monday but is heavier than other C's so struggled to hang on when the road went up. I may just try to surf his wheel in the sprint and hope he doesn't make it over the KoMs ^_^

Went out for a little fitness test today , did a 48 km loop with almost 1000 m of climbing , I used to use it pre Zwift days a lot and found it a good guage for my fitness . Was putting a nice tempo effort with some threshold climbing efforts, recorded on Garmin , pressed lap button at start and end . At end of ride the time on the lap was about 2 1/2 mins from my second fastest time and right at end of ride I lost two big chunks of time in traffic and lights. Was really keen to see the time on that segment when I got home , I knew Garmin Connect was don too and intended to dual record with phone but forgot till about 5 km in . Not sure how long it is going to bedown but that’s my first world problem crisis today 😩.

Just hook it up to computer and stick the activity onto Strava direct 👍

Now I’m not a big conspiracy theory guy but... I mention @Add some how pinching my segment times, and now the whole of Garmin goes down? I’m not trying to put 1 and 1 together here and accuse anyone... but don’t be surprised if we see a certain welshmen’s name all over the leader boards from Northampton to Sitka when the system comes back online!
