Enjoyed that! Think @IrishAl took the win, or certainly will when the sprint points come in.

Managed to get in the early decisive break, legs actually felt great for the first lap, felt pretty comfortable but fatally gapped ok the steepest hill second time around so had a fairly lonely tt till I got caught for the last couple of km. Annoyingly my power dropped out twice at the end otherwise I think I would have taken another place higher (currently 8th on zwiftpower but I spy a couple without hrms)

Went back to my tactic of kamikaze early sprinting for the first lap. I kind of hoped it would at worst serve as a lead out for Alan. Of course I didn't tell him that, but he won the sprint anyway! Got third which was mission accomplished really.

Had a bit of a mare with HRM, whatever way I took it off last time broke the strap and left a bit of the metal in the HRM itself. It still worked with sellotape but kind of broke the illusion that I was in a proper race

good old race in Cat B - The break was forced early on the very first incline-a group of seven or eight of us got away - we forced the pace to make a clean break of it. Strong riding by Michael helping to lead the charge.

I took the first sprint although it took a lot out of me and I was holding on for dearlife as I tried to recover - not helped by some of the other either forcing the pace or mistakenly sprinting for the lap banner.

Lap 2 was more sedate - although one Cat A ZP rider didnā€™t help as he went on a couple of solo charges and others tired in vain to follow. I decided I wasnā€™t going to fully contest the 2nd prime with it being so close to the finish so I sat on the Wheels but the opportunity came as noone else bar one rider went for it properly and I sneaked 2nd without losing too many matches. I thought Iā€™d balls up the finale as the others opened early blowing their power ups. I held an aero helmet and deployed in an effort not to lose too many places but I was pleaeee to see the others all going backwards and I clipped thru to win with relative ease (he says now after seeing stars!). No Sam Coleman tonight but another 50kg junior from the same club and his big brother. Nice to clip both their wings in the sprint šŸ˜‚

Great riding tonight and great to see you in the break. You were unlucky on that climb as only a few seconds of a gap would mean very hard to get the group back in the descent. I think also that A rider went for it then too so that didnā€™t help the pace in the group.

Ok guys, here's your time to beat in the TT on Greatest London Loop on Wednesday

My plan was to hold back on my effort on the flat start and then really hit the hill hard - didn't really manage that very well though! The "flat" start is actually lumpier than I expected šŸ˜•

Good luck on Wednesday - it's a tough ride, I'll be thinking of you all
@IrishAl I may be out on Wednesday. Iā€™ve been invited on a 100 mile ride to Brighton and the weather is looking good, so I think Iā€™ll go if I can.

If itā€™s all looking likely tomorrow, then I may copy @bridgy and set a solo time.

Looks like CCers took the medals tonight .... wins in B, D and C :wahhey:

Cocked up the first sprint. Didn't know where it was and went waaaaaayyyyyy too early so ended up being the lead out for the whole front group  Managed to hang on for 2nd spot though. Second lap I was watching the guy who pipped me in 1st sprint - on the first hill we all went over together, but as we hit the 2nd hill 2 guys attacked off the front. I had a feather so popped it and gave chase - this split the group up. Everyone now chasing hard and this thankfully shelled out the sprinter. 2nd sprint I went early again but won by 10 metres or so but this took a lot out of me. Managed to hang on to the finish sprint where a final effort got me over the line 3rd (the winner and 2nd both had aeros so not much I could do against that.)

Hard workout, but good fun.

Well done all tonight :okay:

Well that was very quick. Couldnā€™t hold the front after the first sprint which annoyed me as I got to involved in said sprint. Finished 9th and think 4th on first sprint so see where I end up. Held off a late attack at the end. @Whorty was right at the business end. Fantastic ride :okay:
I was torn Tim ... so wanted to try and work with you to get you back on, but knew we had little chance against 10 riders so I'm sorry I stuck with that lead group. The first 5 mins or so though was frantic - I was in the red and really struggling. Glad it settled down as I was close to being dropped a few times.

You made the right choice. I battled like mad to get back but the pace was crazy at that point. Good double primes on the first sprint has bumped me up to 6th which Iā€™m chuffed about.

On holiday next week so canā€™t race which is disappointing :cursing:

Strange old night. There was 5 legitimate Cat D's on the starting line only 4 of us finished, the overall winner, Kevin Hall, being DQ'd for putting out 2.8 wkg.

I started well and gapped the field apart from a sandbagger who disappeared off up the road and Kevin who was 10 seconds back and chasing on hard. Me and Kev (we are on good terms by this point lol) rode to the first sprint together and I took said sprint it pretty easily. I noticed at this point that Kev was averaging 2.8 wkg. Anyway he took off on the start/finish line and gapped me this time, by the obligatory 10 seconds. I chased on and after a couple of miles caught him in time for sprint 2. I didn't contest it, saving my legs for the uphill sprint to the line. I stalked Kev but I wasn't paying attention and he got the jump on me and stormed off.

I was very annoyed with myself then I checked Zwift Power and unfortunately Ken was DQ'd. Mixed emotions. It was a great contest and he deserved the win, but the only reason he caught me was he broke the Cat limit to catch me on Lap 1. It's hard. I'd have rather the result stood and we could have done battle again next week.

I checked his profile on ZP and it's only his 2nd race and he's now a Cat C so a few of you will be seeing him soon.

Cat D is pretty sparse of riders currently which is a shame. I was nearly 6 mins ahead of 2nd place but it feels very flat. I might have to take that leap from successful Cat D to a Cat C lanterne rouge regular. My average is now 2.49 wkg so it might be taken out of my hands if I get another close one like tonight.

Well it looks like we were successful in Cats B & C too - well done @IrishAl and @Whorty!!! šŸ†

Well done. Might be worth trying a c race and see how it goes? This time of year and with lockdown easing the fields will be getting smaller for a while
