Sorry to change the subject Del, but I thought I'd post this for @berty bassett because I'm sure he will want to take advantage of the free shipping offered.
That Colnago is cheap compared to Lance Armstrong's Trek Butterfly bike which was auctioned at Sotheby for $500.000,00.

Hi All,

I've had a first stab at Handicaps for 2 laps of Tick Tock

I've done them as follows:

1. Based them on the 1 lap PBs of everyone on Strava - 3 people have no times.

2. Doubled the times as a guide.

3. Grouped people into 5 group of 5 on what I think is current form. I've included Juha to see if we can tempt him to ride and set a time! I've left in Carl before he disappears down a video black hole. I've taken out Dean as he's not been here for some time. I've left in Paul T in case he fancies a go!

4. Taken what I think is the most realistic time in each group

5. Buggered about with the timings and then decided that as the first race is to create individual handicaps, I'll stop trying to be too clever and just set every group off at 2 minute intervals!

All groups go off at the allocated handicap time, so we should get 5 micro races within each group, a few battles between groups and an overall race in the first event. Everyone to ride TT bikes to stop drafting and to get as accurate a handicap system as we can for event 2.

Let me know what you think!

I’d vote for individual starts at set intervals but happy with either 👍
Can people say if they prefer people to start in groups of 5 or at 20 second intervals.

So far, @IrishAl and @BurningLegs favour going off at intervals. I don't mind either way. And @Aleman posted a sad face! 😢

I'll go with the majority!

As a compromise, if intervals win, I'll let @Aleman be the only rider allowed to wear the Bike and Beer jersey!

I haven't worked out what the reverse compromise is if groups of 5 wins?

I like the idea of 20 second intervals, but that is the hardest to organise for you as people drop in/out ..... but I'll go with the flow (assuming I'm not one those who drops out at the last minute  ).

Del, I’ll go with majority. I can’t guarantee taking part so would br unfair for me to push one option over another.
See my earlier post.

If you can't make the first event but would like to get a handicap for a later event, just set up a Meet Up and ride it solo whenever suits you.

I don't mind- i thought the group's was a good idea but similarly think having someone just ahead and behind to motivate will work fine. And actually even if 5 people start at once the way the starts go on the meetup you could all be apart by a few seconds anyway

I favour groups going at once, just because it's less prone to user error. There's less chance of you missing your slot when you see four others who you were meant to be riding with suddenly disappearing down the road! Also the usual problem of people forgetting to stop pedalling (or going to the pairing screen), means with departures every 20 seconds, we'll probably have various of the later starters slightly drifting down the road long before their allotted time.
