Apart from the slow gear changes (which I thought had been fixed) what other issues are there? Not seen anything specific mentioned on the Facebook page for WB Atom.

I'm really disappointed with the Tacx smartbike as I was hoping it would be as bullet proof as the original NEO but alas, seems not. The only comfort I guess is it's not as expensive as the Kickr bike

Im not sure the neo is bullet proof. There’s plenty of people on Facebook who’ve had problems. I think having first hand experience of both I’ve probably got an advantage here. The bike has teething problems but generally it’s really good kit. The biggest obstacle I see both the neo and neo bike have is Garmin. But that is a big obstacle and it may well be a deal breaker in the end for me.

Regarding the atom facebook group all I can say is I was on that group and I’ve never come across a group with such buyers pride in my life. They just did not want to hear anything bad about it. It was laughable really considering how obvious the problems were. Like bob says if you’re coming from a neo I think you’d struggle to accept the noise level. There’s also the Q factor which was a big problem for me. The shifters are terrible for multiple reasons (can’t tell when you’ve changed gear, feel cheaply made, no gear options etc) lots of complaints about the seat post slipping, the resistance changes don’t feel like a bike shift at all. Even if you don’t want the neo bike I wouldn’t swap a neo for an atom just for the sake of getting a bike. With regards the laggy gear shifting it’s better but it’s still not instant like it should be. And it is still noticeable. I have a friend who still owns one and I’ll take his opinion over the Facebook group any day of the week.

If anyone is genuinely interested in a smart bike my advice is wait. My gut tells me the neo bike will be the pick of the bunch if they can sort out the wrinkles. But only time will tell.

I"m on an entry level Tacx trainer but waiting to see what happens in the market. All the signs are that Zwift are working on their own hardware, Garmin have moved in with their purchase of Tacx, which leaves Wahoo third strongest over the long-term in my opinion.

I don't know how long it will take for the market to shake out but I am hoping to only make a purchase once it's happened.

Anyone heard anything lately about the stages smart bike?

Hoping if it's good they will mass produce and get unit price down!

Edit; as warranty is likely important

I thought my trainer was dying on me a couple of weeks ago , seems like one of the bearings could be on the way out . It’s an Elite Direto , I’ve had it for 2 1/2 years , done about 16,000 km on it and loved it . Can get it repaired at factory for about £180 . I think I will get a new one and just keep this as it is for emergencies . Elite have a Direto 2 which is on my list as well as the Saris H3 and the Wahoo Kickr Core . Just trying to decide which one and to find some stock .

Ok. Here's the rider list from our last Hare and Hounds/TTT.

Can everyone post up whether they are available for the next 2 proposed dates, Friday 12 June and Wednesday 24 June.

Based on replies I'll rejig the teams if necessary and adjust the handicaps as we discussed after the last event.

Tagging everyone here so that people see the invite. Please reply and tag me to make sure I see your reply.

Unless they have rectified the problems with the Kickr core I wouldn’t touch one of those I had 3 that all had a problem ,sent them back and got a refund and bout the Neo2, that’s been faultless

I will struggle to do Fridays partly because of family but also racing all out on a Thursday leaves my legs pretty screwed for a Friday ride.

I’m a firm believer in the ‘if ain’t aint broke...’ philosophy. The reason I ended up with the neo is because the virtual lack of all noise keeps the family happy. But if it wasn’t for that I’d probably still be on the bkool pro using a power meter if it hadn’t died on me.
