Just rode the Peak - PTY Midweek TT Challenge on the Bologna TT course, the first 6kms are great......
I don't know but i would say your everest challenge was physically harder than conquer alpe d'huez once, which would be remarkable too. Anyway when i mentioned that outdoor riding is hard in real life i meant more or less flat roads, i didn't meant to compare to hardest climbs which are naturally different story and always hard as default. Good to hear that you change clean shorts/clothes often, i was hoping for that.I think I read a message Somewhere here in the haze (what day is this?) since my Everesting that it would be easier Challenge outdoors than on the indoor trainer - maybe the poster was thinking of the mental stimulation outdoors? I would love to do it outside but I don’t think I could, certainly without Better training.
Indoors I had the added advantage of being able to jump off the bike every hour for the descents...I grabbed a fresh set of shorts each time, 8 changes, did some good manly hygiene down there - Wash, blowdry, talc, chamois (no pics please I hear ya) and have to say I’ve zero discomfort down there. Bike handling on a descent isnt my best strength I have to say, so doing around 2 hours descending outdoors, fatigues, sore wrists, I don’t think would end good for me.
Another thing I found was in my dark moments on ascent 7 . I think I would have fallen off the bike outdoors. I really wasn’t feeling well And Outdoor I would have climbed off and been sick in the hedge. I did threaten to be sick on the carpet but I got evil eyes from 👩
so perhaps my next challenge will be an outdoor Everest...but not this year until I forget this one.
Another newbie question....?
What tyre to you guys recommend for use on a smart trainer ..?
When i had a wheel on trainer i used same tyre as i ride outdoor, that was Continental Grand Prix series tyre. I think most of us are using direct drive trainer currently, no rear wheel needed.Another newbie question....?

Any decent road tyre. Run a high pressure (120psi+) to limit drag and wear
I used to have a wheel on trainer and did try a training tyre but didn't like it (slipped too much). I found the best tyre was the Continental 4-seasons - just didn't seem to wear out!So specific trainer tyres are not needed...?
I saw your result on ZP Cracking rideWell it was the DBR Boerkop Cykler Cup tonight! Not many entrants in D but there was a few DBR riders on the entry list including Jason B from Monday night fame. As I took to the start line JB was nowhere to be seen which was great news as there was only him and Remi Neilsen who I thought would give me a run for my money.
As it turned out I managed to gap Remi before the KOM but he clawed it back and we met half way up the climb but with seemingly nothing left in his legs and I managed to nip round him and take the KOM. I then pushed on and took the sprint by around 20 seconds and he never got any closer with the eventual gap being 54 seconds.
I was quite happy with my time of 54:04 too as looking back to Monday JB went round in 55:52 so I might have given him a good go for it tonight if he had entered. But he would have probably smashed me.
I was sat 8 points clear of Remi after Round 1 so hopefully that will be extended a bit after tonight's performance so I can build up a bit of a lead in preparation for the hillier courses.

I bought one of these. Great company to deal with, free delivery and came the next day. Serious output too, perfect to sit under front wheel and blow upwards.I use the three speed one you're thinking of getting up front. Usually set to speed 2 in winter and speed 3 in the summer.
Recently when its been hot I've added to that by using your current pedestal model as well. I've got it set up front as well at the moment, so the big one blow upwards and the pedestal blows across me.
I've been thinking of trying the pedestal behind me, but for no good reason I haven't got round to it.
