I ended up jumping into the ZHR masters age cat race on Tuesday evening. They had 4 categories listed in 10 year age blocks but in reality their results are split into 5 year blocks. It’s a new series - 12 weeks I think. There’s no soft riders in the age categories. the race was All cats starting together and course was 2x sand and sequoias so twice up Titans Grove. I was dropped from the front group on the first lap, rode then with a small group of 5 with 2 others in my age group For the remainder. I knew from Zwiftpower life which rider to watch so I marked him on the climb on lap 2nand knew I could take him in the sprint for minor places. 5th in the 40-45 age group. Praying for a flatter route next week. Im gonna make this series a regular for the next while.

ive got the WTRL TTT tonight riding for the IRL Jalapenos in the Frappe class which is limited to 3 max A riders. Not looking forward To the volcano. The team did a recce on Monday and there is a lot of opportunity for teams to be split going over the top and down the volcano. Good luck Del.
Thanks Al.

I rode the course myself on Sunday and you're right. The volcano is going to be really tricky. Staying together on the climb that far in to the race will be a challenge and the descent might even be more of a challenge, especially when the short flatter sections bring the sticky draft into play.

Good luck to you tonight and @bobinski @bridgy @berty bassett and @<Tommy> in the ZSUN team.

I've entered the WTRL ITT event on Saturday as well. 2 laps of Tempus Fugit. I think I may be all TT'd out by the end of this week.

I've looked at the Masters races a few times, but never tried them. May have to give them a go when the DBR league is over and see what they're like.

I nearly joined this series - but as previously said, I want to finish the DBR Wahoo League. Have you tried any Masters racing in real life?

I raced the Ulster provincial 40-50s last year. A group of 10 got away in the first mile and not many worked to get back. I did my best but it had 3 laps including a 3 mile climb averaging 6% so not my ideal territory. It was a baking hot day and enjoyed the day out. photo below of me pulling on the front - I knew where the cameras were after the first lap :becool:

It’s funny how often the guy sitting in second has a look on his face that’s says “this’ll do me nicely!”

Thanks Del - Tommy and Lee have both wimped out so it's just me flying the flag in the team tonight. Good luck to you too. The question for me is whether I'll be able to hang on up the volcano climb - I'm thinking not! Are you also doing the TTT again @IrishAl - I think I saw on Strava you had done this event last week too? What type of team are you in, Espresso?
