er no thanks, I'm struggling in C so ill just keep you companyThey are also background watching 5 min and 1 min power too not just 20 mins, where you could sit back and relax for most of the race then unleash a big 5 min power figure and destroy the field
It looks like you will be bumped up to A cat Tommy. There is an A+ cat now. but the table says 250W and 4W/kg is now A on the events ZP page at the bottom.
Bob, Pete, Lee, Paul will be A cat
It looks like Del, Chris, Nick Michael, Brendan will be be B cat
Carl will too soon
Im happy in C -----for the moment
I don’t think so bud. It looks close there but it’s what I was saying before. It’s dramatically effected by the length of the race. Those top two results are both right on the 20 minute mark. I can’t sustain that for 40 or 50 minutes which is what most the races I do seem to be. So I’m a long way off really. Which is just fine with me because I’d prefer to not get booted out of races with you guys.
Yes, but it isn't your last 3 results - it is your best in 90 days (I think its 90) so one more good result any time soon would do it.
So now comes the "moral dilema" do you steer away from short races for a while to stay in B OR go for it and get upgraded
They aren't releasing that info, but it's linked to the 1 minute and 5 minute power ... so if there is a B in C (for example) and they have shot off the front and dropped all the normal C's, if the power is too high (based on this unknown algorithm) they throttle the rider's power. Apparently it's quite funny when the pack then catch the rider and the throttled rider can't respond No glory for them so they might as well upgrade next time.At what point does it reduce your power do you know?
That is true - cheats will cheat - but then what we will see less of is the sandbaggers shooting off the front in the first few minutes never to be seen again.will it stop people riding tactically below their best though - there will always be some who will take it so seriously that they will do anything to have a virtual medal , be that by weight doping , riding well within their means or any other way just to get a result , that is one reason i dont like racing in big races , i like to race with people who i know are giving it their all rather than doctoring the way they ride just to win
at the end of the day i only ride on zwift to try and get better even though age is not on my side , it takes a strange person to cheat themselves onto a make believe podium but i know there is a lot who feel the need so the more things to try and stop them the better
was listening to the zwiftcast on this, apparently, this rider then is subjected to a torrent of abuse zwift is trying to avoid this so it is expected this will change and the rider will be ghostedThey aren't releasing that info, but it's linked to the 1 minute and 5 minute power ... so if there is a B in C (for example) and they have shot off the front and dropped all the normal C's, if the power is too high (based on this unknown algorithm) they throttle the rider's power. Very true ... in the Crit races I'm on my knees from the off. Too flat for me and can't keep up enough power to stick with even real C riders. Stick some lumps in though and the race changes - the heavier C's don't go out as fast or hard from the pens, so I get to hang on and get a free ride to the hills. Then, when the road goes up I have the advantage over the much heavier riders. If they're within their cat it doesn't matter. On some rare occasions, I've found a race easier to be in, I've not ridden away but waited for the opportune moment. Pretty much like in real world situations
Luckily (!) my 1 minute and 5 minute power numbers are not great so I'll unlikely get pushed up based on those ... yesterday on ZP there was extra data (now removed) showing your 1, 5 and 20 min theoretical categories (probably ZP trying to work out what Zwift's algorithm is doing). For 1 min it had me at D, 5 mins at C and 20 mins at almost B.They are also background watching 5 min and 1 min power too not just 20 mins, where you could sit back and relax for most of the race then unleash a big 5 min power figure and destroy the field

People are doping in cat 4 races all the way to world tour level. It will never change .That is true - cheats will cheat - but then what we will see less of is the sandbaggers shooting off the front in the first few minutes never to be seen again.
As for cheating, I'm a bit meh if there are cheats in my race (weight doping etc) as I'm never gonna know who is doping and i can't do anything about it anyway. So long as i get a good workout with riders in the 'correct' category and pushing the right w/kg then that's fine. What I don't want is to be in a cat where the limit is 3.2 w/kg and even so 25% are pushing closer to 4 w/kg, and that is mostly what these new rules are supposed to be resolving.
We'll see I guess.
