If you're a pro, maybe, but I'm not. Sometimes I just can't go harder as my chest starts to burn and my asthma starts to play up. My health is far more important than winning. Plus, I'm not just bothered about showing how good I am, I want to have a good time too.I agree. When i watch Movistar documentary there was a good tip how to ride when it start to hurt, close your eyes . Anyway always give your best when you compete if you like to show how good you are...that day.
Yesterday I could have dropped the other rider over the top of the KoM as I had a few metres on him and he dropped his power (I assume to recover). But I messaged him to get on my wheel and I dragged him to the finish line. I didn't have to but I like riding with others and this gave me more pleasure than just beating him. Just my way I guess. Not the first time I've done that, certainly won't be the last
