Well that was fun and a good old blast. The race was a 10 miler so perfect for setting your best 20 minute power in Zwift

There were 43 riders in B category but it looks like only 12 are on ZP or are legit.

It was a reasonably fast start but not as mad as some - and fairly quickly a group of about 20 went clear which both Pete and I were in. Crit City tends to be mainly threshold with a 20 second VO2 Max blip on the short cobbled incline, and that is how it went. It must have been fast as I kept getting PRs on the lap.

I was chuffed I stayed with the lead group all the way, but then I cocked up my sprint as the Finish turned up before I was ready and by the time I wound up my sprint and hit my powerup, it was too late. Still I got 14 of 42 (8 of 12 in ZP!) which I was pleased with.

@peterob got 5th, 2 seconds ahead of me (4th on ZP) so nearly a podium :notworthy:

I'm a bit gutted, I recorded the race, but I think hitting the spacebar for my powerup must have toggled it off - so I only have the first 1.9 miles.

PS, love Pete's ginger dreadlocks

Some very high watts there from the pair of you!

I’ve never heard you speak about the south in such glowing terms! You must of got very homesick out there 😄

Just had to get back, ever diminishing options to move around. Hotel was shutting down on Sunday and weren't saying what they were going to do with those booked to stay beyond that date Police were raiding hotels forcing people back into their rooms, putting up road blocks to question people why they were outside.

BUT LIGHT REALLY WINS
But let’s not misinterpret the data. While the heavier rider always wins at the same w/kg, what we see in reality is that it’s really tough for a heavy rider to hold high w/kg. Making 400 watts of power is much more work for a 100kg rider than making 200 watts is for a 50kg rider.
Yes that's what I thought.

There's loads of dat and graphs, and lots of analysis, but if the basic fact is that a heavy rider has to put out an unsustainable amount of power to make their analysis correct, then they as well have just printed the paragraph you cut and pasted.

It would have been better for them to summarise where a heavier rider may have an advantage, flat races and TTs, and where a lighter rider while do better, longer climbs, and then focus a bit more on the in between stuff, rolling roads, short sharp climbs. But we probably know the answers to that anyway?

Not exactly. They do highlight one other (to me at least) interesting thing. If two riders are of different weight but putting out the same w/kg. The heavier rider is going faster. That was new information to me.
Of course in real terms the lighter rider is putting out less watts to achieve that W/kg. But if for example myself and lee are going up the alp and I can see we are both putting out 4/kg. Then I know I am slightly edging him. Whether I can sustain that for the entire alp is another issue!

self serving quotation Andy 😁 And doesn’t reflect all of it either!

Bugger. My window of opportunity is rapidly closing and probably won't get another chance to ride until sunday
Edit....seems to be loading
