Doc has put me on gout meds as pain a bit too much now to ignore. Hopefully can ride tomorrow - fingers crossed :okay:
Speedy recovery Carl

Don’t no if I will be riding tomorrow night as I am on hospital duty in the morning and we have to go to Sheffield for the appointment, 5hr round trip and will call and see my daughter whilst there

Hope hospital goes well. We seem to be at a different hospital every other week. I don't think there is a hospital in a 50 mile radius that we've not visited at least twice.

Colchicine - he's hoping they'll sort me out in the next few days. Any side effects might give me a bit of weight loss too
That drug is used to relieve pain and swelling due to a flare.

Allopurinol is the drug you take for the rest of your life to reduce the uric acid in the blood stream. You start taking it after a flare has settled down, starting around 100mg leading upto 300 mg over a couple of months. Your doctor should take bloods to get a base line of uric acid in the body and then after being on Allopurinol for a few months check it has dropped to normal levels if its still high you increase the dosage upto 300 mg. He/she will give you clearer information.

Some docs don't offer Allopurinol for some reason and treat gout with NSAID for short term relief, but risk of reoccurring flares is common. Ive got several mates who suffered repeated flares over several years before demanding to be on Allopurinol.

I used my in-laws (GP) knowledge to insist on Allopurinol after my first and only flare with my GP

Signed up for the race tonight. Let's see if we can get some good points again :okay: Andy and Micheal to take points in the first 2 sprints, then roll home, whilst Del, Chris and me hang on to top 30 positions ^_^ Easy

Wrong forum but thought it might be quicker to get attention here.

@CXRAndy What's the latest design for a rocker plate? I looked through the Rocker Plate thread and it looked like you upgraded from a back wheel only plate to a full length design, which I'm interested in.

I couldn't see any details for the longer design. I've got a Neo, which I think you also have.

I'm hoping a rocker may help reduce some of the rigidity which I think has been causing me some shoulder/neck pain recently, which got worse after I rode the Grand Fondo just over a week ago.
