I think the B’s start faster, as we used to start with the A’s in most mixed races. More often than not, I was caught by the top 20 C’s later on, once they had dropped the D’s.
Do you know how the sprint bonuses work @Brusgaard? Do they effectively get taken off of your overall time. If so, by how much? Or are there bonus points awarded? And how many places count?

Just wondering whether it's worth contesting an intermediate sprint (if I ever find myself in that position). ^_^

Is the sprint the first 5 past the sprint banner for each cat, or is it the 5 fastest sprint times? Could make all the difference, as it is (probably) easier to get a fast time rather than be first across the line. You don't even need to be in the lead group to get the fastest time

Need to ride with more team tactics. Get the three fast lads to the end. :boxing:
My sprint is sh1t so I either need to get into a lead group with only a few riders, or I need to get into the lead group with 1 or more of you guys and I try to disrupt the group over the last 3km to put pressure on other teams to try and kill their sprinters to give one of you guys a chance.

Because my sprint is so bad, I always start out about 1km from the finish, push as much power as I can and hope I can hold it for over a minute. I always get swallowed up by the finish by the faster sprinters, but I do manage to take a few scalps along the way

I think all things being equal, of the 5 of us I have the worst start ... if I go out too hard I just blow up, so have to measure the start, just enough to latch on the the group but happy to sit at the back until it settles down. I need to practice my starts if the C is as manic as the B group, else I'll struggle to get into the leaders.
I think you may have to.

I started like I have been since I backed off from racing and got left behind. Pretty similar to what you‘ve been doing. In fact, I based it on your starts and it worked ok for me on rides like TdZ. But the start in the C ride was full on from the word go.

I had been pushing much harder at the start before my lay off. I think I’m going to go back to that on Stage 2 and hope that I get into a group and don’t blow up!

My tactic is always to try and stay with the fastest group I can from the start and generally I get dropped on first decent incline. I don't know if I'm actually being stupid and would I be better just staying with a slower group and then have enough in the tank That I wouldn't be dropped by that group and could actually stay with attacks at the end. Should probably experiment...

...but there are no big hills on stage 2 so I'm gonna do the same as always!
Well the fact you still finished a minute ahead of me says your tactics were right!

The only real race I've done recently was a Crit last weekend, where I had to bust a ball to get into the lead group from the start. I did manage that and ended up finishing 5th (4th on ZP) but that is a relatively flat course so once I was in the lead group of 10-12 I was unlikely to get dropped (no hills ^_^ ). Hopefully I can do the same on Tuesday (asthma allowing) - can't be any worse than this Tuesday when I was dropped by every single group in the first 300 metres

The big group rides I think it's safe to go easy early on as all cats are mixed, and many will blow up after 5 mins so you will catch them later on the ride. Where it's a cat race though, if you don't get into that lead group from the off, the race is over.

Are you all in the same kit for this race? If not, I think you need to choose a kit to represent cc.
That's a good point - something that makes it a bit easier to spot each other (not that I really saw any other Cyclechat B's after about 5 minutes but you never know how future stages will pan out!)

I'm still wearing the orange zwift jersey (that most closely resembles our physical 'raw nipple' jersey's that we got a couple of years ago). With matching mohawk.

Looking at the results on ZP, it's first over the line at the sprints that is getting the points, not fastest sprint. The guy who is currently leading the A race actually finished 5th for 26pts, but got 1st,2nd,1st at the sprints, giving him a bonus of 14.

Did you say that Watopia's Waistband is the next course? If so it's worth noting that ZP normally only counts the Fuego Flats rock arch as a sprint point then, not the lap banner in downtown Watopia.
