take it easy mate, you on form could have had that cat c last night :okay:
Yep, got my @rse well kicked last night. Hoping I can ride with you chaps in C next week and see if we can work together to get some points. Wouldn't have been much help last night in the end had I been in C either, but hopefully a visit to the asthma clinic Monday should clear me for racing Tuesday ^_^

Me too...the pace was crazy and it didn't seem like anyone eased off like they usually do after a few minutes.
Hoping to last a little longer in the next one.
I thought the same Lars - I averaged nearly 400 watts for the first kilometre and was going backwards through the field very quickly. Setting off at some of the TDZ rides at the same pace I would often find myself off the front at the start and could soon ease into a high but sensible pace in the front pack (until they dropped me on a hill but that's another story!). Last night though, everyone just kept hammering it for AGES!

To help against battery drain, its recommended to unplug the heart strap from one of the terminals. The tickr seems to go to sleep and reduces battery consumption
I spent around an hour last night online and on the phone with Amazon customer services who I bought the Tickr from, and then directly with a Wahoo technician in the States. After the expected “have you tried taking the batttery in and out?” Question we got into a RESET procedure for the Tickr to take it out of standby mode...this involved removing the battery, putting it back in upside-down for 10 seconds, and then back to normal. That didn’t work either! So Wahoo suggest they are going to replace the unit - I await confirmation though.

On the plus side I tried this “reset” procedure on my previous Garmin HRM and it brought it back to life! So at least I have a working HRM in the short term albeit ANT+ only.

@peterob I got a DQ from the official result as my HRM was faulty but I got a time of 52:19. If this could be accepted that would be most welcome:notworthy:
As you haven't knocked me from my lofty perch @IrishAl I'll allow your time to stand

Your time was obviously affected by you being dropped early by a smaller A cat group because we're similar weight and your average power was slightly higher than mine. I also took a bit of a kicking on the B's, but did ride mostly in a group of 15-20 which obviosuly helped my time - I unleashed my devastating 450 watt sprint (:headshake:) a bit early and held the group off for a bit before getting passed by about 10 of them who actually can sprint, just before the line

I need to learn how to sprint, I just can't do it at all!

what cadence do you get to in a sprint?

Maybe I'm doing it wrong - I tend to drop to a higher gear and stand up - my power obviously goes up but I don't get really high cadence doing this (or really high power!). Am I better off staying in a lower gear and spinning really fast?

Im not a decent sprinter, I can put out fair numbers(for an old fella) if not too fatigued at the end for 150-200yds. I tend to pick a gear I can get on top of regarding cadence. 95-105rpm is about my range. Training on TR I can spin up for 10secs to 180rpm which gives a good power, but I cant replicate that in a race.
