No don't worry I'm not feeling criticised - but I am just trying to clarify what's going on and how it works. To be quite honest I'm usually a bit confused about exactly where start/finish lines are on even the most straightforward courses! Other people often seem much more definite and confident of knowing where the line is than me - which is probably why I have less of a problem accepting if its a bt vague, just keep going! Having said that, similar to this happened to me a few stages ago - in that case the finish banner was AFTER the meetup finish and I stopped early becasue of that if you remember

yeah it effects us all for sure. I really like the countdown timer as I don’t know the courses very well. Failing that once you are familiar with a banner you can look out for a certain corner or whatever to tell you your close. No marker at all is too much for my brain to handle!...

@<Tommy> drops back slightly - is 2 seconds

It looked more like 4 seconds at least to me!

I don’t know my time, I can’t see the segment. This happens half of the time. Can anybody link me their Strava segment please?

You have to log on to the desk top version of strava. You can do it through your phone via the web. Then scroll down to the bottom of all the segments to where it says ‘hidden segments’ or something similar.

Definitely 2 seconds mate, I've checked! You are 1 second behind me when our lines are closest just before the end, 3 seconds behind me at the end

I would vote to complete the league as normal, and maybe do something different in December?

With December as it is, people are likely to be effected by social engagements and perhaps we could do a series of weekly one-off races rather than a league? Handicap could be one week, with other formats on the other weeks?

Either that or handicap race as a Christmas special?

To me it feels right to test it outside of the league and consider including it in future leagues if it is a success.
Yeah I think this is sensible

I agree with Leggs.

mind you, it’s far too sensible a proposal for this forum:rolleyes: I hope it’s not repeated mate👍

I’d agree....finish the 4 race league.
we could always try a handicap race as a special for next weekend or Monday evening using this months times. Just pick a day and time now to give plenty of notice

I was just kidding (4 seconds being what I needed to pip you by 1 second)

But... my time in relation to your time doesn’t allow us to work out what my overall time would have been if I’d of carried on going. For that we’d need to know my potential speed over the distance remaining if I’d of carried on going full pelt. Unless we assume we both cover that ground at the same speed but I don’t think we were. Looking at the graph you put up it looks like you had levelled off to the speed of your slower self at that point. And my speed was increasing.

I’ll stop boring everyone now... I know where the finish is now (sort of). And any day I lose to you by 3 seconds isn’t a bad day!

Happy weekend everyone! I believe it is officially beer o’clock!
