OK I think I've updated the table with all the stage times I could see from last night. let me know if I've missed you off.

It's tantalisingly close between @bridgy and @<Tommy> at the top, with just 5 secs separating the pair. With one stage left will it be the Camden Charger or the Cheddar Chugger that takes the plaudits?

Lots of battles up and down the league so all to play for. In the battle of the C's, can anyone challenge Del one last time before he steps up to B cat next month? Exciting stuff.

Looks like I might have to do stage 1 and see how close I can get to Alongo😉

Very marginal yeah! That is just the segment not the whole ride. I'm not sure whether I upped the pace just at the end or you backed off a bit

maybe a bit of both? I guess it’s hard to tell in the sense we’re using your slow time as our guide, but don’t know exactly when that ‘Bridgy’s’ pace changes during the race

I have a feeling our Irish friend and lee might fancy their chances too. Depending on what type of course it is it could all change dramatically. I’m quite chuffed to be in contention at this point but I feel like I’m constant hanging on by my fingernails!

Where are we going next? Over to you bridgy:popcorn:

I've just checked Strava @<Tommy> and for some reason it looks like you backed off just before the end of the segment - which is plenty of time & distance before the meetup finish so I don't know why? Here's the analysis of the segment only - you'll see your power drop right off and your cadence just before the end, and then pick up again - note this is still a good 1.8km from the end of the meetup itself. Mine stayed steady at this point so my speed was higher. If you hadn't done this you would definitely have been closer if not faster than me:

Correction - it was probably about 1km from the end of the meetup as you didn't stop straight away (but I can see from my data where the meetup would have ended as I stopped pedaling then - at 12.5km)

I thought we were doing the ‘Greater London flat’ course which stops halfway up the mall. I didn’t know we could even get a Strava segment to coincide with the end of a meet up to be honest. I was asking a couple of questions before I set off because it was all a bit vague. Not anyone’s fault apart from zwift for not letting us do a proper race. It does all feel a bit random though with these meet ups. I probably lost a good chunk of time at the end there thinking about how long I was just spinning for. But I was going to have another go anyhow so hopefully I can put in another decent effort.

We were doing the Greater London Flat course, but as is sometimes the case with these meetups, we were slightly affected by where exactly we were spawned. We unfortunately started just after the point at which the "Zwift Insider verified" strava segment starts, meaning we weren't picked up by that segment. However there was another Strava segment which started and finished slightly after the official one which we WERE picked up in, so we used this segment for times instead - you must have missed the earlier posts on here about that. When you were asking before the ride I did say I wasn't sure exactly where this segment we were using started and finished - which is why I just went full gas from the start (and right to the meetup finish!). I would suggest that unless its really obvious where the start/finish banners will be, that you keep going potentially right to the end of the meetup just to be safe and avoid what happened to you - but you've probably come to this conclusion yourself now anyway :okay:

Just to add - I don't know what you mean about the strava segment coinciding with the end of a meetup? The strava segment we used finished about a kilometre before the meetup end in this case

Sorry I read your post as meaning the segment finished at the same time as the meet up. I’ve just re read it and you’re saying the segment finished a while before then. Which is good in a way as it means I probably lost less time than a thought I did.

So there was no finish line marking to speak of on the road? That kind of sucks doesn’t it? we’ll have no way of knowing when to sprint for the line.

No, because as I said, the meetup spawned us AFTER the line so we couldn't use the "Zwift Insider Verified" segement which would have finished on the line. We had to use this different segment which - whether on purpose or not - started and finished after that line. If it hadn't we wouldn't have been able to use it because of where we were spawned.

We always use the Zwift Insider Verified segments where possible because they reliably start and finish at the banners or sprint lines, but Zwift mucked this up for us because of where it spawned us. That's why I was saying I didn't know where the segment would start or finish - becuase it was just a segment set up by a random user that just happened to be useful to us because of where we spawned.

All you can do is study the strava segment now you've done it and see where it ends and base your finish on this. I know its not ideal - it's Zwift's fault!

It’s one thing starting after the line. But not finishing on the line is more anyoying to me. it’s like playing football as a kid with jumpers for goal posts. Or racing your mate to the lamp post at the end of the street. Seems crazy we’re not past that point. And yes, obviously it’s zwifts fault.

Just because we start after a line why can’t we race segments that finish on one? Whether it’s the verified one or not does it matter? Can we make our own segment that finish on a line I f needs be? I can see how this happened. We didn’t know it was going to work out that way so then had to pick a segment that kind of fitted. But it’s annoying.

I had a look my stage 3 effort too and looks like I wasn’t going full gas for the first minute as I was waiting for the banner. I.ll give it another lash this afternoon. I also think there’s some time to be clawed back in stage 2 if I pace it better as I went badly into the red on the volcano climb.
Does anyone want an invite for 4pm today For a stage 2 and 3 double header?

Edit: I see that innsbrucken is the guest world today so I’ll have to fire up the laptop to hack into London. Don’t think I can make a meet up for that one but could manually meet up if anyone else is on board. I can use that as a warm up for Watopia.
