I was too busy last week (and away from Thursday) to sort out a league ride, but with this pleasant weather I think not many of us are doing so much on Zwift right now? Personally I'm happy to still do a Thursday race if enough of us are up for it to make setting it up worthwhile - so is anyone else up for a Thursday Zwift race?
Yes, if the ride is 6 o'clock (ish) and up to an hour long, but I can't do later or longer I'm afraid.

One thought I had .... and I'm biased here .... how about a TT 'flat' course but in a Single Speed gear. By that, I mean, you choose a gear prior to the start of the ride and you have to stick to that gear for the whole ride.

It's London Thursday so we could go for the London Flat course (3 or 4 laps).

Any takers?

I'm still off the bike following my spill last week. May try an easy spin this week but doubt I'll be ready for another week or two for a full-on Zwift effort trying to hold your wheel Bridgy.
New theory. Bridgy was worried about you improving and trained the dog. And by now all evidence of the bacon in the road is long gone. Brilliant!

Could you not just put difficulty setting to minimum, and on a flat course you should hardly need to change gear anyway? I have to be honest I don't really like the sound of it because even in this scenario I think I'd get really frustrated not being able to change gear if I felt I wanted to! There's a reason I've never fancied getting a single speed bike!

Fair enough. Just thinking about mixing it up and making it a bit more interesting.

As for ss I am out - gears are there to help your knees and mine need all the help they can get

Lee, just to say Cycle.travel worked a treat in plotting my quiet lane ride to daughters school. It took me away from the main A road which is very dangerous to cyclists. I only had something like 150 yds on an A road

My research in bikes is drawing me to either the Bianchi CV Infinito or Trek Modane or Specialized Roubeax. I'm leaning towards the Spesh or Trek due to the general consensus online that Bianchi's are overpriced for the spec.

Do I go Di2 or stick with mechanical Ultegra? LBS do Specialized and will be getting in the Roubeax 2020 in the next week so I can see it in the flesh (they have Tarmac and S-Works so have had a look at those already. I do like the yellow Roubeax :girldance:

The reading I've been doing all talks about these endurance bikes, and how smooth they are on poor roads. Just need to sell the house then I can look to pull the trigger :cursing:
Go electronic.

I love the r8k di2 system on my Cube. It is almost an auto change it's that light. You think about changing and it's done. No swinging lever just a touch of the button. It is almost too easy at times you can end up in too light a gear without realising. I'd recommend a climbers switch as well it works really well.

Also get it linked to the GPS headunit to display what gear you are in.

I've seen a couple of Madones and they looked stunning. Nearly reconsidered my SystemSix at one point.

Maybe I'm old school, but I don't fancy Di2. It is one more thing that can go wrong and I'd rather put the extra cash into a better frame/wheels than the gearing.

I can understand the doubts about di2/etap/eps/whatever others I am unaware of. But they've been around for a few years now and I think we would have heard about any mass failures of these systems. 10 years ago we were asking about the need for smart phones. Now look where we are, posting on forums on the internet at the next cake stop :mrpig:.

Well while it is possible to get stranded with a flat battery, or even worse leave the battery at home charging when you have arrived at a drive and ride  ... There are no cables to snap. The self trimming function introduced with later versions is a god send ... as is the Cross Chaining prevention. If it was truly bad, would the pro's be using it after more than a season??

All fair points - but I believe there are quite a few instances where the Di2 has gone into crash mode etc and won't shift - Paris Roubaix this year was a prime example. I do accept that the systems are now pretty robust but the bang per buck doesn't work for me. I fully understand why people do go for them however

Agreed, the pro team that was running SRAM's 1X groupset last year on the road eventually went back to the 2X because it was more reliable. The issue they had was chain shipping on the front ring!!

Rode the Col Du Lautaret and Col Du Galibier today, at 100%, on the NEO. Strava tells me I have set my 2nd best time on one section. Checking it, my other time was set back in 2017 and so must have been on the Bkool Pro on Bkool.

The numbers I set previously are crazy!!!! 12 minutes faster in 2017 at an average of 375 watts for 30 minutes  I think I may have had a bit of fairy dust that day
