Andy, I was only having a little nibble at Dean ;)
Re blowing up; I actually started RGT very close to another rider and thought I could use him to pace. After I went the wrong way:rolleyes: and turned around I started to push 3.5 to 4w/k to catch him and not surprisingly it was too much to early.
I think you are right about times and anyone who breaks 1h 45m will have put in a v impressive ride.
Fwiw I know I can do chalet reynard to top in 35m possibly quicker. My 36m rlr involved moving chats with 3 people on the way up- one of whom told me to feck off ^_^ So then issue is how fast from Bedoin to CR and I think a struggle for me to do it in less than 1h 20 without risking blowing up which puts me in a 1h 55 to 2 hr.
I actually think I will be quicker irl than in RGT

Some times, average speed to ponder, Bedoin route 13.4 miles.

Ave 7mph 114 mins........Ave 8mph 100 mins Significant the time gaps for 1 mph, but so is the effort for one measly 1mph

Did the KISS second base race today. More disasters from the start. Got on in plenty of time and was warming up, less than a minute out from the drop and my client crashed, so reloaded and got back in and was about 10 seconds out from the drop, so had a significant effort to get back on with the main group. Took 11 minutes to catch the main group with @JLaw in it, during which I averaged over 4w/kg. So I knew I was pretty much DQd at that point, hung on the main group, and pushed a touch to see if anyone would bite, but they wouldn't

At about 1 lap to go I figured it would be worth trying to see if I could organise a sprint leadout for Jeff, but all hell broke loose at about 3.5km to go as one of the group shot off the front, quickly followed by a few others, I tried to raise the pace to keep up, but realised I was losing the rest of the group, so eased off. Paced into the front and started sprinting around 300m to go, Jeff was following, so I pushed a little bit, in the end I rolled over just ahead, with us both being about 9 seconds down on the winner in 7th and 8th place out of 28 finishers.

Good overall race, but I still need to work on technical/timing at the start, once in the main group I'm definitely just rolling along, so I will no doubt be bumping up to B at some point.
I didn't realize that was you until the last lap. I saw someone fly off the front during that first sprint and my thought was to see if the group could drop the rider after we caught up. So I went to the front and tried to set a higher pace than we'd been riding. But you obviously hadn't gone too deep and were able to stick with us. It wasn't until you sent that message on the last lap that I realized the folly of my plan.

I tried to stick with you and the other 3-4 that accelerated near the end, but my legs just didn't have any snap in them after yesterday's climb in the real world. So I had to be content with following as best as I could. Thanks for easing off a bit to pick me back up, I just didn't have it today.

Sunday's climb in the real world still wasn't at race intensity, nor was it the absurdly gentle spin I took up the mountain last week. I'll probably need to hit it at race intensity this week and next in preparation for the race up on the 26th. I'll probably bow out of the Monday KISS race over the next couple weeks.

Been having a few days with slightly off colour. I may tomorrow have another go at Ventoux with XTR Cass fitted. That allow me to run at 80+rpm for prolonged periods. We shall see if I tail of in performance like last time with a higher cadence

Yeah those accelerations off the front were pretty brutal. I was feeling it pretty bad on the way home from work today, I was going to do the 8pm race tonight, but realised I just didn't have the legs for it. Had a quiet evening instead, be back on probably on thursday, give the legs a bit of a rest.

Painful race today. With 2 climbs up box Hill, I'd planned to join a slower group and meter out my effort. Joined the second group quickly, then went off the front in an attempt to join the fast boys (so much for my plan). Got to within a couple seconds and just needed one more burst, but didn't have the motivation, so I waited for the second group to catch up.

Went hard up box hill the first time, led the group past the halfway point of the climb and saw Dean on my list of rides about 30 seconds ahead, but couldn't continue the effort at that pace. Backed off a bit and about half of the slow pack passed me. Caught a few of them before the downhill and we made a nice little group for the second lap.

Two riders were charging hard and caught our group of 4. The leader of that pair complained that he wanted a break, but nobody was interested in pushing the pace. We let him tow us for a while before he rode off the front never to be seen again. Tried to get some space before the second climb up box, but the group wouldn't let it happen. I shifted down and spun up at a much slower pace than the first ascent. Tried unsuccessfully to hold off a rider for the last mile, but he caught me about 200m out.

Resting tomorrow. I need it. My legs are dead.

Time I did a hilly race #gulp. In C races, what sort of w/kg do people go up say Box Hill?

I rode the Zsun Pretzel training ride last night. I was a reluctant starter but only because short bouts on my rower have left my knee a little sore and slightly inflamed. Ice pack and ibuprofen gel made a huge difference so I threw myself into the ride and I am glad I did. They ride at a fair lick but without any of the bursts of pace you will get in a race. So,fast enough that Alinha took both climbers jerseys on box and fox and Monica took the sprinters jersey. I got a pb for the last bits of Fox having mistimed my pace at the start of the hill. I need to get under 8-30 and put my bkool best ride to rest! HR of 170 for much of Fox suggests that may be a struggle. Lots of banter though I have no idea how people manage to type and ride at pace. So, well worth joining if you fancy a fast but non race pace though beware that for me at least it certainly is not a recovery type ride.

Edit
I was second up fox with 4w/k and Barista fastest with nearer 5w/k

Safely back from the smoke again - although I learnt a valuable and most scarey lesson - never ever ever go down toilets at top of carnaby st again ! Apart from being 50p  as I walked in , the group standing in the middle ambled to the troughs - not peeing - just looking at me - then moving from trough to trough while one just stood in middle of floor staring into space - and to top it off I couldn't get the turnstile to turn on way out - I climbed it in record speed - the quickest 50p ever spent - and only had half a pee !
