Fascinating and the complete opposite of what the vast majority of users say. You were sold some dodgy Kickr by the sounds of it.
Yes, very strange and not what I expected when everyone was saying the NEO would be harder. When I climbed Box with you the other day I was able to drop down a gear and spin up to 90+, but when I climbed Box in a previous race on the Kickr I was struggling to get above 70 and was having to grind it out, even when dropping down a gear. Just felt that as the Kickr unit got hotter, the resistance increased but for no extra power readings. At the very least though, it's made my legs stronger

I've got some Vector 2's that I'll put on my turbo bike and do some comparison's against my Kickr's reported watts when cool and warmed up. I've read that the Kickr drops watts at higher temperatures (rather than over-reporting at lower temperatures) but it will be good to get a comparison on my own setup.

What do people here use where they have an external power-meter? The turbo built-in or external meter? I suppose if I'm serious about training I should use my Vector 2's to measure from, so that I can translate this to trw.

I use my neo for power but I should really use the power2max which is on my turbo bike as it’s probably more accurate for power and definitely more accurate for cadence. I just forget to do it when I log in and I assume they’re both in the same ball park for power at least so not that important.

I’ve heard the kickr over reads power unless you re calibrate it but I take these things with a pinch of salt. Coming from Bkool I just want consistency.

I'd recalibrate the Kickr weekly (you only really need to do it if something changes) - all my problems came from the overheating bug. Long fast rides, with higher cadence, seemed to be fine. Slow cadence, high resistance rides was where the problems occurred.

Not sure how using an external power meter will help ..... the power may be more accurate, but if the resistance dies completely (or locks on and can't move the pedals) it will just cause the power numbers to be all over the shop.

No such issues yet with the NEO and I've been up a few hills at 100% reality so I'm hoping now this issue is resolved :okay:

I have on occasion used my Stages PM to compare with the kickr. I did have a large difference once, but was corrected by a spin down test. I hadnt done one in ages

I was compared todays volcano flat data to TdZ stage 4 volcano flat data. Now i ride Tron Bike and Then was Cervelo S5. Now my lap time was 19:05 and TdZ was 17:58, avg power now 253 and TdZ 215. There was draft when i ride TdZ but i noticed that avg heart rate was now smaller, 158 now and 161 TdZ.

Does make me wonder with a wheel on kickr snap what actual watts im pushing. At least improvements are consistent
What i heard and read kickr snap needs regular calibration, i don't know how often. I guess that calibration doesn't take long if it have to do daily.

I'm signed up to the 15:10 3R NY perimeter race tonight if anyone interested in joining me. Take about 35 mins so a chance to set a good FTP :okay:

The quick spindown on the app takes no time but I often am so late to a race that I do it less often than I should

Carl, Watch you are not at risk of overtraining .
Will be doing a 20 mins warm up today, then the 30 odd minute race but if not feeling right I'll just cruise. Tomorrow, depending how I feel, will likely be rest day, before racing again Thursday. Saying that though, there is a 10 mile TT tomorrow afternoon that is very tempting

It's one of the benefits of being a youngster, our recovery times are less

Desperate to get this weight off this year, and before I end up gong back to work full time; once I'm full time again I'll struggle to ride as much so getting the miles in now :okay:
