Looks good, potsy, but the way Skol described the NYD ride, I thought you would be riding down dual carriageways, through industrial estates and shopping centres!

What flat places you folk inhabit. I can't remember what riding on a flat road feels like.
Living where you do, surely you sometimes go riding out in the flatlands of the Fylde and Wyre districts near Blackpool?

I had planned a ride out to Burnley today to meet bromptonfb, and then ride back to Hebden Bridge together for a cafe visit. Unfortunately, I got delayed by a phonecall so when I finally got going, I was running 20 minutes late so I only got to Cornholme (8 miles away) when I met Shaun. His leg was hurting so we stopped at a cafe in Todmorden for snacks and a chat, and then went our separate ways.

I decided to bypass the centre of Todmorden by doing a little backstreet climb I know. Something pleasing happened ... I felt a sensation that I haven't felt for years (not THAT one - here is the bleach for your filthy minds!) - uphill oomph! I stood and sprinted up the hill. Ok, it got my pulse rate way high, and I was wheezing and spluttering by the top, but it did encourage me to dare hope that there is more to come, rather being destined to only potter about on my bike.

I added a couple more little climbs when I got back to bring my total distance up to 25 km, just over 16 miles.

Not so often Colin, time restrictions usually mean a quick morning blast out to Chipping or Settle for a coffee then back for family duties for me and my regular buddy. I am thinking that next weekend I will suggest a trip to Scorton though.

Just a short ride for me this afternoon, though a rather expensive one as I went to my LBS and bought myself a Christmas present. :hyper:

The sun was setting as I made my way home:

Lovely 61 mile route today. Fairly flat but still managed to climb a tad under 5000ft.
Me and @Jason.T stopped for a coffee and a cake at the half way mark which was a welcomed break after 30 miles or so.
Was dark when I got back but thoroughly enjoyed
Don't forget the lovely view we had in the coffee shop, not the ideal time to be looking like a power ranger lol

Nothing too exciting, did 8 miles in total in 40 minutes total ride time. Just up to the jobcentre for a meeting with a personal adviser, cycling south in the early afternoon meant the sun in my eyes all the way. If I cycle I tend to go on past to the sports centre at Horfield for a nice cuppa in the cafe. Had the meeting and all went okay. MIght be able to get onto a course to learn some accounting to make office work more of a reallity. Cycled home in the dark for the first time, 2 lights front and back. Cycling the 2 lane A38 in the dark was exciting. Some horn honking, but I realised it was because drivers in lane one were pulling out so far to come past me, it was upsetting drivers in lane two. Happened twice.

As folk who know me have probably guessed, I gave into the temptation and went out for a ride tonight, it was a beautifully starry, yet mild night until I cut into the Fens, then it was a whiteout. Back in semi civilisation (Yaxley) I had an angry shout from a passenger, I think my retaliatory :hello: confused him, I hope it did anyway  Strange nobody else was angry

32 miles today, a lot of it against the wind! The prom in Pen was littered with stones, legacy of the storm, so had to turn back. Riding on the promenade in Colwyn Bay, there was a lot of damage on the cycle path and some of the sea barriers were torn down by the force of the waves. I now have only 70 miles to do to reach my target of 2000 miles this year. Hope to make it but all dependent on the weather.
48miles to go! Getting there.
