Looks good, potsy, but the way Skol described the NYD ride, I thought you would be riding down dual carriageways, through industrial estates and shopping centres!
What flat places you folk inhabit. I can't remember what riding on a flat road feels like.
Living where you do, surely you sometimes go riding out in the flatlands of the Fylde and Wyre districts near Blackpool?
I had planned a ride out to Burnley today to meet bromptonfb, and then ride back to Hebden Bridge together for a cafe visit. Unfortunately, I got delayed by a phonecall so when I finally got going, I was running 20 minutes late so I only got to Cornholme (8 miles away) when I met Shaun. His leg was hurting so we stopped at a cafe in Todmorden for snacks and a chat, and then went our separate ways.
I decided to bypass the centre of Todmorden by doing a little backstreet climb I know. Something pleasing happened ... I felt a sensation that I haven't felt for years (not THAT one - here is the bleach for your filthy minds!) - uphill oomph! I stood and sprinted up the hill. Ok, it got my pulse rate way high, and I was wheezing and spluttering by the top, but it did encourage me to dare hope that there is more to come, rather being destined to only potter about on my bike.
I added a couple more little climbs when I got back to bring my total distance up to 25 km, just over 16 miles.
