Rest day today. Always like to have one day without cycling every week, trying to be strict about it at the moment as I am covering around 120 miles plus 2 turbo trainer sessions a week. Looking forward to the club run tomorrow though. The stop is Middleton hall. I will most likely do a lone ride out and come back with the slow group, should be fun if the weather is ok.

Didn't manage to get out today due to "unavoidable work issues", but did venture in to work yesterday with 515mm on my new Felt Dispatch. Very interesting concept in having only one gear, the mile drag uphill which I normally spin up was very much a grind but I was very pleased knowing that it doesn't get any worse than that anyway. Overall an enjoyable experience.

21miles tonight...windy windy. Is it just me or is it nearly always windy

Hardly any traffic out there...where is everyone ? Hunkered down for Christmas maybe?

Today was Traffic Light Goblin Feeding Day. ME, Chuffy and Andy Gates rode our commutes and left either a chocolate banana, a mince pie or a bourbon biscuit out for the Goblins. This will please them and the lights should be in our favour for the next year.
Rode a slow 15 miles, assisted by those two feeling a tad hung over after last night's Solstice festivating.

Weather wasn't bad, a bit windy but otherwise dry grey and not cold. did what I said I would do, went out on my own and did a lone ride to Middleton Hall, went via Balsall common, Barston, Hampton in Arden, Meriden and Maxstoke. Past the Kingsbury water Park and over the M42. When I got to the A4021 instead of staying on the road I turned right onto it then turned left into the lanes and did a loop through the Village of Middleton and came back on the A4091 by the Hall. Came back the direct way with the slow group and left them just before Meriden to go down the lane, across the Fillongley road and use Harvest Hill lane to come into Coventry through Allesley. 56 fixed wheel miles covered, great morning out, very enjoyable.

26miles cycling between shops picking up things for the OH. Nice to be back on the bike after a weekend spent doing nothing as I felt like I had been hit by a truck after fridays crash.

Innit mild, innit eh eh ?...
Its so mild, there's so little traffic, WTF's going on.
Little extension to my commute tonight, up to the transmitter tower (highest point around here) and sprint about 3/4 mile up, then coast down..albeit gingery in the pitch black.
The hill rises about 100ft in 3/4 of a mile, slowy, then quite steep in the last few hundred feet. Is that steep ...it seems like it round here ?

Went out this morning for a ride. I rode around the hills of West Lothian and did about 40 miles in 2 1//2 hours. It was pleasant, not cold and the traffic out in the back roads was actually quite light. But, it was my 4th day on the trot doing a decent session and although I kept my HR down, I am feeling a little tired tonight. I might have an easy day tomorrow and just have an hour on the turbo.

On my way into work, I caught up with and returned the rear Cateye of a fellow rider. Fortunately the traffic lights held them up until I drew level, because they weren't dawdling.

I lost a 'ping' bell in the same place a few months back - quite rough road surface and the bell just fell to bits as I went along!

No ride here - was going to go out for a spin after a hectic day running round....wife got back from work early (last day), my new lid had arrived.... very dull and the missus pipes up "it's mad out there...no-one letting people in...all dashing about...." thought better of it and built up my son's toy shelves for Xmas..... just have to get them up the stairs late at night tomorrow......

Still mild here ;) Nice 10 miles or so home. Took the Bianchi to work today, its bright and dry, and there has'nt been any salt down for a week plus.

At work, i took advantage of some quiet time and removed the brakes completely, cleaned the calipers, checked cartridges for debris, anti siezed all the bolts and fitting nuts, cleaned out the drilling in the fork for the calipers(a bad area for corrosion and rust) and applied plenty of anti sieze, applied a bit of lubricant where ever i could to the cables, cleaned the mechs, oiled the jockey wheels, good clean of all the frame etc, then polished it all off.

Fitted a new FSA 10 speed chain. It only cost £5 off ebay..the guy was doing a lot of them, Buy It Now for about £15. This one he had on auction and it finished at a funny time. My pleasure
Commuting, mainenance at work, and getting paid for it...what more can you ask for.
