My ride today.....same as my ride all week ...non existent ...... freezing cold with a wind behind it and white frost with black ice on the side........presently consoling myself with a bottle of Jack hoping that next week will be warmer.......

Well - that was eventful.

In summary:

60 odd mile round trip to Ottterspool - never been before.

Garmin had an eppy - would not upload the route there. As it was having an eppy I had no idea of the way. I knew as far as latchford Locks so another 20 odd miles to go.

Guessed the way ('m convinced I have a bit of a photographic memory-had looked at google maps the night before) and managed to get there.

On the way I noticed my wheel was fairly badly buckled. Put it to the back of my mind as I had enough to concentrate on.

Water bottled had partially turned to slush.

Cafe was lovely - 2 americannos (only charged me for one as the first one was a filter-machine hadn't warmed up as I got there as they were opening).

Garmin had eppy #2. Would not load the route back. So I had to go the same way back.

10 odd miles in I coould hear something from the front wheel. Stopped and wheel was rubbing against brakes and mudguard very badly. Loosened off the brakes but couldn't loosen off the mudguard ad didn't have a spanner. Had to put up with it - like pedalling through treacle.

A nice parking warden (oxymoron?) in Warrington town centre pointed me the way to latchford Locks.

Finally home.

Lovely ride despite all the above:thumbsup:

Hooked up with a very nice chap from Munich on my ride out and rode out to a town called Llucmajor and back (about 30 mile)
Loads of cyclists on the roads. Anyway, got a pic for posterity when we got back

A nice ride in to the New Forest, blue sky ,con trails and crisp air. Only one other roadie seen all the way around .I was beating the sun ,so only did 30 miles , watched the sunset over Swanage with a cup of coffee from the ice cream kiosk . Then I felt I could really kick myself in to touch , so another 10 miles on the TT . Nice big glass of milk now .

Just back from my first ride since 29th October.
Depression has been more resilient than I have been but today I got the urge so changed sharpish before the urge went away amid my head saying "its dark" or "its cold" or "I really should do the washing up".
First problem was my rear tyre was a bit on the soft side and it took me ages to find the track pump that hubby had seen fit to hide at the back of the shed. The narky neighbour poked her head out and asked if I needed to clop about on the shared path quite so noisily. My Paddington Bear stare was lost in the dark but I gave it my best shot, while thinking that if she got on her bike she might not resemble a beach ball quite so much. Woman has ears like a bat!
I didn't go far, once the tyres were at a decent 100psi. I rode towards town and then went along the Norwich Road, where I did about 50 yards on the cycle path but it was covered in wet and rotting leaves, so slippery beyond belief. Then I turned at the Waitrose roundabout and went left along Tuttles Lane, then left up Chapel Lane and then back home via the road past the LBS and to the lights and then home. 6.46 miles in 30:41 so I actually averaged 12.5mph which I was mightily impressed with.

I am making no promises with myself about getting out before the Hill Wimp and Hopless saturday, ladies what lunch, ride but I will give it a go. I don't want to make a complete disgrace of myself. I do feel better having been for a ride though. I noticed an upswing in my mood and that the feelings of anxiety vanished within a mile.

Well done, you had a better day then me, I missed the start of the ride this morning, took my good lady out in the car this afternoon, got a double puncture and had to be towed home.

Ride out today lead us into muddy parts. Our leader had believed Google maps:rolleyes:. Always check the OS!! Anyway we had fun frolicking in muddy woods  before we cleaned out our cleats and mudguards and headed off to the cafe in Bromyard for some lovely soup and coffee. Things then reverted to tarmac on the way home although some farmer type had coated tarmac with clingy and slippery mud for a few hundred yards .

We all had a lovely ride out in bright but chilly conditions. Good fun and chuckles ^_^
