My only option today was to cycle in the afternoon heat. Garmin reports avg temp of 84.2F with max of 91F at some point. I had intended to go further but it was just too hot.
In the end i managed 38.5 miles in 2h 5min at an avg of 18.4mph.
The route is a nice one - over the Ochils (easy way!) - up Glendevon to the head of Gleneagles then descending down to the River earn and looping round Auchterarder. Onthe return i passed the Gleneagles golf courses - looking parched then climbed back up Gleneagles and down Glendevon (with a tailwind) before tiring on the final descent down to Dollar.
On stopping it felt like i'd hit a wall of heat and dashed off to stick my head under the cold tap! Phew...:heat:

The Glue that binds us together.
22 mile evening ride with the other half, was a bit slower than the last couple of rides but still enjoyed it, the other half now considers it training as we are doing London Cambridge London in just over a weeks time, so that will be 100 + miles in a day.^_^

Club's annual Hill Climb up the Cat and Fiddle this evening, 22:45 (16.6 mph average), 4th place, only 3 seconds off 3rd. Had the race been 10 seconds longer, would have blown spectacularly, I was seconds away from popping, no wonder though my normalised power was ~370W which is above my best 10TT effort and it was baking hot!

Feeling the effort of racing a 10TT Monday, training hard on Tuesday and then racing the HC today lingering in my legs, got a 25TT on Saturday so time for some recovery, nice easy spin on the turbo tomorrow and lots of liquids!

It nearly all ended in disaster before it had really started. I hit a rut too hard, too fast and with the front suspension locked out on my mtb on a local bridlepath and the only thing that can be said is for one minute I though I had broken the frame on the bike from the noise.

Glad you are ok and the bike survived too!

Delamere Forest seemed strangley deserted at first, but before long mountain bikers outnumbered dog walkers by around 10:1 but I did notice I was the only female out there tonight. Had a little fun with one guy on an expensive full suspension mtb when I caught him up, overtook him then nonchalantly sat up and pulled my water bottle from its cage and took a drink... (sorry, I was having a little fun with him... )

Shame on you, this was cruel and spiteful - and the kind of thing I would do (although with my level of fitness I have to limit myself to "burning" old ladies on Shoppers.....and a few of them have got away from me!)

Oh and I have to apologise to anyone who heard my rather feminine squeal in Delamere Forest. A rather large dragonfly and I had a coming together, first it wrapped itself around my handlebars, then around my good leg and I was not inclined to leave it there whilst it tried to sting me! So sorry if you no longer need to clean your ears out, it was a rather high pitched sqeal and I am somewhat embarrassed about it
.

Dragon flies are fascinating creatures and lovely to see.......and they don't sting. They are inquisitive so do tend to check humans out and if you tried to catch one it might nip you with its jaw (no teeth - just a mandible) which could be slightly uncomfortable - but they don't have a sting. Still, you cant beat squealing like a girl once in a while.

Had thought they did - must be something else I am thinking of that does. 'twas a female common hawker. It and I met on a collision course at speed. But I don't need to be bitten by anything else either: have been bitten by a badger, an adder (3 days in hospital for that one, allergic reaction to the venom and 1/2 stone in weight lost) and also a pack of wild dogs (+100 stitches). that is my 3. no need to add any more to the list!

But I agree - they are fascination creatures. We used to get loads of them where we used to live on Thursley Common in Surrey and I frequently got to photograph them.

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
The usual nice country lane loop inland from the coast...blazing sunshine and a strong NE wind...all was good until the inevitable idiots on the coastal road attacked...two lorries, one coastliner bus and a white van..all way to close as usual and as usual I got there before they did anyway.
