Club 10, 22:20, 3rd place, fastest member of my club (max points for the club scratch comp ). My time and normalised power were equal to my course PB. Average power was 2W higher, 6 seconds slower on the way out, but 6 seconds faster on the way back. If anything, I am consistent

Back from me hols in Fuerteventura, and now able to upload some photo's (sorry) The holiday went well with about 250 miles covered on the hired bike (mainly in the mornings due to the heat) the roads were a mixture of very good to bl**dy awful some finishing abruptly. I did not cover the entire island due to the heat to get to the south side I would have had to stay there for the day before the return journey and I think my beloved may have objected. The drivers have to be the most courteous I have ever met whilst on a bike. I only had 1 puncture which wasn't much of a surprise considering the road I was on at the time but thankfully I was supplied with spare tube and puncture kit. I can recommend Easyriders to anyone thinking of hiring a bike over there. phonestuff 218.jpg phonestuff 231.jpg

I had a day off so did more normal 15 mile route. Just got a new phone and Sports-tracker didn't seem to work. When I got home it had only registered the first 29 seconds of the ride. Must check to ese what I did wrong. Battery going on bike computer but I wasn't, at the time, concerned as I had Sports-tracker running .
So don't know what I did it in or what speed.

Great to read your posts ColinJ. Great to know you're on the mend and back in the saddle. Don't rush things .

sole reason for today's ride was to pick up my repeat prescription from the doctors surgery and for this reason, I had sent it to the request to the main surgery, only today is not going to plan. firstly my garmin decided there were no satelites to be found anywhere around my home and it took 5 km of riding before it found any, then when I got to a planned 'change' in my route, I totally forgot about it and took the direct route to the doctors... only to find the dr's have decided that their half day closing this month (and for the first time I have been with them) would be on a Tuesday not a Wednesday - usually this is given as a notice on the previous repeat, it was not this time. Annoyed with myself that I had missed them by less than 10 mins, I set out to find a new route, and failed really. failed to turn off at the NCR5 sign and take an off-road route, failed later to realise where I was and ... and so it went on. Did have several helpful motorists (thank you) who either gave me loads of room, or even let me out, so not everything was working against me today. Eventually I decided enough was enough and picked up an off-road route home (one advantage of cycle cross wheels on my road bike ) and headed home. As I got nearer to home, the garmin decided to be less and less accurate with speed (compared to what I know I usually cycle that route at and what my cadence meter stated I was cycling at - anything up to 8kph/5mph difference!). Once I got home I felt slightly better because I realised I had actually missed the dr's by 1 hr 10 mins - my cadence meter is still in GMT

Still it is the furthest i have cycled since restarting after being ill, but clealry today is not going to plan - thankfully I had only taken the lightweight sprial lock with me, rather than a heavy D-lock with me - bike was never going to be out of site collecting my repeat prescription, it just means I get to repeat the ride tomorrow! 1hr 30 mins 31kms (19.25miles). nothing fast, nothing major, but each ride is either longer time wise or longer distance wise and this one managed both! http://app.strava.com/activities/67504657 Perhaps tomorrow will run more smoothly.

Put the tea in the oven, donned cycle kit, grabbed bike - damnn that 'effin' fairy:boxing: , puts bike back, grabs MTB instead:unsure: , heads off for a quick ride. A few miles down the road I realise I had forgotten my water bottle:banghead: Decides for a shorter ride, gets hit in the chest by a large bee. Still after all that, after being out for an hour got back to a chicken curry that was ready to eat:hungry:, followed by homemade banana loaf:mrpig:. I've now started itching and realise I have been eaten alive by midges:cursing:

Hey ho! - it was still good to be out after driving a desk all day.

Do I need to get the spray plaster out?
It was a short but nice & breezy downhill ride to the river this morning for tea & ice-cream and a ride on the ferry. It was a hot hot hot uphill ride home with none of the predicted cloud, no breeze & a temp of 29 on the way home, I got in and was dripping & icky - yuck yuck yuck

User76 enjoyed her ice-cream though ^_^
