Went out with the club today, Polocini Test Team. Met up at 9 at the cafe for a coffee, whilst everyone turned up. Al came over with my new club jersey, so on that went. Six of us today rolled out about 9:45.

One of the lads fancied a run via the back lanes to Mellor, Hayfield, Chinley Head, Rushup Edge and back.

That's what we did. Certainly not done the smaller roads before. Most of the hills were above 15 percent, so everyone was in bottom gear. Some very challenging single track, covered in gravel, dust, you name it. Getting traction was fun, as was descending.

We stopped after 17 miles at the Otter Sanctuary near Chapel en le Frith. Despite the 17 miles only, we had done 2500 feet of climbing.

Straight out of the cafe at the Otter Sanctuary, up a bloody steep hill. Over and around the top winnats, and back down Rushup, and we backtracked via the back lanes to Marple then the cafe in Romiley.

40 miles with over 4000 ft of climbing. The heat was hard work. Recovered with an awesome beans on home made toast, coffee and a cordial concoction of cordial, elderflower juice and sparkling mineral water, wow that was really refreshing.

Chilled out at the cafe for an hour before rolling the 1mile home.

One of the guys was sporting some impressive road rash from a racing crash, big patches on left leg and arm. Messy indeed. His New nick name is road rash.

25TT today! Finally got my sub-60 min ride on J2/9, 59:16 (25.2 mph). Team prize win and overall placed 15th (I think, have to wait for official result to confirm)!

It was baking hot, loads of DNF's due to the heat, but my hydration plan kept me right (don't normally drink in 25's but it was way too hot to go without today), conceded some time sitting up to hydrate but it kept me going to the end, had to delay my do or die last ditch effort until the final 3 miles as I just couldn't go from 5 miles out in that heat. I think on a slightly cooler day sub-59 is a sure thing!

@fossyant Goes by the name Pat? If so he is one of our lot and is a machine in the hills.

Out at 7:40 to meet up with friends for a bit of a ride, had planed on 25 miles, did about 30 on a flattish route. We lost bearings and ended up on a very busy main which wasn't all that pleasant but all cars gave us plenty of room. Very hot and sweaty and ended up with sunscreen getting in my eyes, now that stings.

Cracking time that on a J course. Well done.

It was Pat, he was on his Ciocc with Super Record, it was very very nice. Yup he was bloody good, seriously fit guy, and kicked my ass up the steep stuff. His road rash was impressive. He must do some miles, very lean bloke.

@fossyant

Thanks, now to go under 59 mins, lol  Just need similar conditions but less heat! Probably would have been under 59 today had I not had to keep sitting up to drink.

As for that Ciocc, yup it is super nice. Pat does do a lot of miles, he also gives the turbo some stick too! He kicks my arse up the hills as well. I have seen him post some bonkers rides on Garmin Connect where he has just been out and ridden up Mellor 6-10 times or something mental.

I thought it was me being up boozing at 1am at my Dads birthday party that was slowing me down on the steep stuff. Obviously not. Pat is indeed rather good. Pat and one of the Test Team members who is rather light (nick name is fat xxxxx) were flying up the hills. Bar stewards . Hee Hee.

Out and about at 10ish this morning. Hardtail ride across Sywell Airport and the bridleways beyond. Ground was as solid as a rock (Queue a song!) and I wished I'd opted for the full sus..
There's some bridleways that I've had trouble following for years. Very few signs and when I actually find them, they're confusing.
Never mind.. even if I go the wrong way it's still a nice bit of scenery. 1 clue to follow is the presence of.............

20 miles in total (25 if you count the fact that I popped up to Tosco's get the missus summat before I started tracking the ride)

Ended up back at Sywell Airport for a pint of lemonade and orange to watch the planes and helicopters playing for a while. They have a Hawker Hunter Mk11 on display there

I popped into the museum for half an hour and was surprised to see a couple of old bikes on display (as it's an RAF museum)

I never realised that fold up bikes were not a recent invention! Sadly I couldn't get much of a pic as the bike was strung from the ceiling!

They had a bike that'd be useful for city rides that had strapping for a Lee Enfield .303 rifle... Handy for those errant car drivers ;)

Back home via the grounds of a dilapidated old mansion that is home to a religious cult of some description.. Probably the Order of the Saints of the Mothers of Perpetual Misery or summat, but there are peculiar people wandering around when the moon is in Uranus...

Nevertheless, I survived... Back home in time for a visit from Daughter and Granddaughter who decided that I had to walk her down to the lake to feed the ducks, play on the swings and buy stuff from the shop for a picnic on the green behind the house..
Happy Days.. ^_^

Mine was so good. (I did go for that ride...glad i did)
Just over 20 miles, but since the rear ends a bit sore...:blush:
Suns been shining here all day, 13 or 14 degrees, 15 mph winds made it a bit slow on the outrun, but fast home (20 -25 mph for 6 miles  ).
Very very glad i went....now i feel guilty about feeling good

How was yours....

Cycled 50 miles today Aberdeen to Keith...just my luck that the lovely recent weather ceased this morning...much cooler and very windy and needed a jacket....enjoyed all the same though...will sleep like a log tonight
