Accidentally turned the intended 20 mile ride into a 47 miler with 2.5k of climbing on top of yesterday's 3k. Legs were certainly feeling it by the time I got home. :B) Went up one hill that I've not ridden for a while and couldn't get over how much easier it was today. A few miles down the road I was still enjoying the warmth of the smug glow when I was overtaken by a guy who paused to say hello and then quickly vanished into the distance. That was me put back in my place!

All but 200 miles, very wet for the first 6 hours, not very warm, wind building followed by rain for the last hour. Knee now completely buggered and so endeth my training and ambition of completing LEL 2013.

I was riding today, did you pass me going down park side near the finish I was trying to encourage Gary a friend who had been with the 1st group but ran out of steam coming out of Tadcaster, I caught him at the Ledsham checkpoint, did you say we can go round again now as you passed? I thought I recognized the bike from a previous photo you posted, I could be mistaken.

The first 10 miles were hectic, I then did a bit of solo riding into the wind towards Cawood, a group caught me and I had a good ride with them until I let them go at Ledsham to drag Gary home. its the 1st time I have done the ride I have usually had other commitments when its on, I enjoyed it & saw a few faces I haven't seen for years, the BBM boys at the front didn't bother with the chips so they wouldn't have to stop !
I appreciated the stops, and a drink with biscuits.

Weekend 8 of my Challenge to see how many weeks in a row I can do a century ride.
Once again, I had to play on my lonesome (I really am billy-no-mates at the moment) So decided on a blast to Ashford in Kent and back. For the trip out I decided to push it a bit harder then I usually do. I had a little help on the way by gatecrashing a Sportive that was on my route. So plenty of drafting and overtaking going on to make things a little easier.

Arrived at Ashford Station at 52 miles.
Even the lady in the food kiosk asked why I was on my own today.............

Anyway.... sustenance. to fuel me up for the return.

Took it a little easier on the way back. Stopping to take a few photies.

The Hubert fountain in Victoria Park, Ashford. Built in 1862.

The obligatory RapeSeed pic.

Into the Village of Smarden. One of Kent's finest and dates back to the 1200's.
A friend of mine used to live in this house.

I thought these wooden decorative animals on the front of this house were Griffin's, but was told they are Weavers.
It was built in 1430 and is a Yeoman's timber hall house. It was the clearing house for the local cloth industry. Hence the Weavers.

I also ran into the Tractor Festival. There were about 50 vintage tractors.

So it's all the 8's, weekend #8 of my challenge. The 8th Century of my challenge & Century #88 over all..
104 miles for the day. (And for me) A respectable 17.3mph average for the ride.

:bravo:

I may have seen you (though it's not as though there's a shortage of guys on blue bikes wearing blue jackets on the roads ) on the road from Creech to Ham and North Curry. I was going in the opposite direction.

Small group of 6 - 8 ?

Really good day, weather held out just about as well, so a nice bonus.

Me or you? I was solo - I think the you I think was you was indeed in a small group. I was wearing a magenta jersey, on a small black/white/magenta (not pink!) Orbea.

Was lovely and warm out today - hope you'd made the correct clothing decision. Saw one guy in overshoes
