I got back from my first multiday ride in over 30 years yesterday, and what a great ride it was  It was 'only' 160(ish) miles but the plan was just to have a leisurely ride taking in some fine ales, food and giggles along the way. The route was...

Day 1 - Carlisle to Appleby via Brampton and Langwathby travelling along the east fellside of the North Pennies (45miles/900m ascent)
Day 2 - Appleby to Shap and Penrith through the Eden Valley and edge of the Lake District (30miles/ 710m ascent) - Short day = several pubs visited ;)
Day 3 - Penrith to Maryport via Keswick and Cockermouth, - across the lake district paralleling the A66 corridor but using minor roads (42miles/1050m ascent)
Day 4 - Maryport to Carlisle along the coast and Solway Plain (45miles/550m ascent)

All in all very leisurely, and apart from the odd shower here and there we only had a couple of hours of continuous rain on the Sunday. All easily doable (and comfortably) on a slick shod MTB

Here's a shot of the gang being propelled along the prom at Maryport by a very strong tailwind - freewheeling at 15mph and still accelerating!!!

Have been feeling a bit stir crazy due to not having got out on the bike over the weekend :rain: so, when today's jobs were called off due to the forecast I took the chance to grab a ride between showers.

The route was a variation of my regular ride to Acton Burnell and back. I started out on soaking wet roads but once I reached Condover everything was dry and stayed that way for the rest of the ride.

I may have stayed dry but still had the wind to contend with (gusting to 32mph according to Met Office) which made the outward leg rather slow. The trip back though was at an easy 18 to 20mph cruise most of the way, which was very enjoyable.

Not surprisingly I only passed one other nutter cyclist brave enough to risk the weather.

The trip was 18.45 miles and I managed an average of 12.8mph.

From Lyth Hill, the clouds over Church Stretton look very threatening. Fortunately that is heading away.

Near Longnor - that bank of cloud is coming this way. Can I get back before it rains?

Near Condover - the Oil Seed Rape is in full bloom.

Just back from a short very damp 14 miles spin to stretch the old legs

Same here, run planned was Embsay steam railway. But we had been soaked three times in the first 15 miles so we called it a day in Otley.Which turned out very well because i met a retired postal delivery driver, now 87 and he looks great. That gives me another 24 years of cycling, whee. We had a right old natter. So all in all cold wet filthy day out.But the bike is now nice and clean and smelling lovely after the shampoo wash and gt85 spray.

Just been out to try a local 10 mile tt course (no event) and got 29.06, I think I might be able to break 28.00 now I know its ups and downs still lovely ride out and back too and a total of about 22 miles, and greeted by a striking sunset on the way home. View attachment 23022

Mm, I know Newton Lane very well, part of one of my regular routes.
Before cutting over Rawfield Lane, & Butts Lane, to pass through Lumby

After seeing Chris Boardman’s favourite ride on ‘YouTube’, I thought I’d give it a go. Some of it I’ve done in the past but from a different direction.
So I started the ride only to notice 2 km in I’d left my energy drink in the car, about turn, not a good start.
The route was certainly up and down, I may need some new brake blocks! Overall the weather was kind to me only a few showers, with my Garmin saying the average temp was 9c.

Out on the MTB today the weather man said it was going to feel cool so I put my bib tights on, I think shorts would have been OK but not short sleeves, headed out on a ride I have not done for a while involving the River Calder the River Aire & the Aire & Calder Canal, the TPT North section & a bit of the Wakefield Wheel, I was been hit in the face with giant hailstones at one point, an experience I am not keen to repeat.

I have given up with Bikemap.net so here's my route on Strava

Weekend 7 of my 100+ miler a weekend.
Let's see how many weekends I can keep this up.

Was on my lonesome today, no one else was available to play.
So decided to do a new route. A clockwise Kent-Surrey loop. Following the Pilgrims Way from Otford to Hollingbourne, south and, west fighting the headwind, all the way to the A23 via Yalding, Tonbridge, Hever Castle, Lingfield and Horley just north of Gatwick and the A23 all the way to Croydon, Croydon to home.

It was a lovely day here in the South East. Blue skies and fluffy clouds for most of the day, with only the tiny hint of a chill. Of which made me cycle just that little bit faster.

Also had one of those odd moments.
Got a puncture 2 miles from my planned brunch stop in Yalding. So after checking the tyre it was out with the old and in with the new. Have patches so will repair at Yalding. 500 yards down the road.. pfffft.. second deflation. Bollocks. Oh well, pump and ride, pump and ride until I got to Yalding. So sat in the cafe garden with 2 egg and bacon sarnies and a huge mug of tea, I set to work.

So check 1st busted tube... nothing.
Off with the tyre, check tyre.. nothing.
Check rims, spokes etc...nothing
Check second busted tube...aha.. hole. Patch.
Check 1st busted tube again... nothing.
Ok, 1st busted tube back into tyre, pump up and see if it stays up whilst I stuff my mush.

It was still up half an hour later so bugger it.. off I set for the 56 miles home.
And blimey it lasted all the way.
Checked a few hours later after getting home and it's still inflated. Most odd.

So 111 miles for the day.

On to next weeks......

No hats off to you smiley but think this is apt!! 111 miles solo :pump:

Left home and rode to Liverpool and met up with @Pjays666 at the Pier Head and started him off on his 127 mile Leeds Liverpool canal ride. I only rode to aintree where the canal goes near to the TPT which i joined and headed home. Surprised when I got home to see i'd done 30 miles on MTB which is good!! Managed to leave Defy at home for once! Only got the 1 pic but file to big and I can't workout how to compress it.

I've never been up Worlds end that way before, think it might be a little easier that way instead of Minera side
I'd never go through the ford again, that green algae/slime soaked me last year:shy:

It's funny how people have different perceptions of climbs. I found the climb after crossing the A5104 steep.
As for the ford, I always walk through it. It can be like ice at times.
