Further to Gavgav's report above, we had a good ride around the Withington and Rodington area to the east of Shrewsbury. I haven't ventured to these areas before so it was another first to add to my list. It's fairly flat (with the exception of our detour round the edge of Haughmond Hill) so nice country to ride through and we passed a few quite tempting looking pubs which might be good to visit at some point.
I liked the look of the biplane we spotted. It looked a bit like a Pitt's Special, but with a radial engine.
After leaving Gav I took the scenic route home via the Quarry in Shrewsbury. Even though it's still not what you'd call warm, the sunshine has brought people out and the place was quite busy.
My tally for the day was 30.2 miles at an average of 10.4 mph.
Gavgav at Rodington Heath
The ground is pretty sodden still and we encountered water across the road a few times.
Looking towards Haughmond Hill. We climbed round the edge of that earlier in the ride.
The Wrekin is the dominant landmark in this part of the county.
